The philosophy of practice is embodied in the spirit of inquiry that flourishes amongst our staff. We are looking for BAS graduates to join our teams for a 1-year internship. During the internship period, interns are exposed to extensive training, personal development and diverse and exciting projects around the world. As an Intern, you will: Showcase your knowledge of modelling software, research skills, creativity, customer focus, hand-drafting abilities, and teamwork Assist the project team in generating clear technical drawings of projects Understand design intent and goals for successful implementation Assist with research, data compiling, and documentation at all phases of design, including feasibility, concept design, schematic design, design development, and construction documents Provide graphic support for project teams in preparing for presentations, by generating diagrams, renderings, and other design drawings Provide meaningful support for all levels of project technical challenges Assist in producing all documentation relating to the design including Drawings, 3D Models, Images&all other documentation relating to the design and according to the project brief Display aptitude for applicable technologies for all aspects of project execution Implement for successful execution of project deliverables, drawing on deep knowledge of office systems and technology With assistance, liaison with External Consultants, Contractor/Site, Architects of Record as well as with the Client ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND CRITERIA Bachelor of Architecture, Bachelor of Architectural Technology or equivalent degree Working knowledge of REVIT Ablility to understand and formulate design decisions and present for discussion Able to use a variety of media and software in the development and documentation of a design project Display high level thinking in architecture and design Ability to accurately understand and interpret instructions Display a sound understanding of the production process, including applications of different file formats The ability to learn and demonstrate creative problem-solving skills Able to set and achieve deadlines and give regular updates on progress Methodical, accurate and consistent attention to detail Able to manage sensitive and sometimes confidential information Able to remain calm and work in pressurised environments Self-motivated and able to take responsibility Demonstrate initiative and be pro-active towards daily tasks Able to set and achieve deadlines and give regular updates on progress Due to the nature of the position there will be a requirement to work additional hours as necessary, this may include weekends occasionally SAOTA offers a hybrid working environment where staff can choose to work from home (not limited to Cape Town), in-studio or do both. Our flexible working hours policy aims to accommodate staffs home life commitments while ensuring our work commitments are reached.
