Job DescriptionThe Earthmoving Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the operational efficiency and safety of heavy earthmoving machinery. This role includes performing routine maintenance, diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues, and collaborating with other team members to optimize machinery performance on construction sites or manufacturing plants.QualificationsEducation: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certification in heavy equipment maintenance or a related field is preferred.Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a mechanic, with a focus on earthmoving or heavy machinery.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance and Repair:Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on earthmoving equipment such as excavators, Bell 222F forklifts, loaders, and graders.Perform diagnostic tests to identify mechanical issues using various tools and equipment.Repair or replace defective parts, including engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.Ensure machinery complies with safety standards and operational regulations.Troubleshooting:Diagnose faults and malfunctions quickly and accurately to minimize downtime.Utilize diagnostic software and tools to identify mechanical problems.Troubleshoot issues related to hydraulics, transmissions, engines, and electrical systems.Documentation and Reporting:Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts inventory.Prepare reports on the status and performance of equipment.Ensure all maintenance logs are updated and comply with company standards.Collaboration:Work closely with equipment operators to understand issues and ensure proper use and care of machinery.Collaborate with other mechanics and technical staff to resolve complex mechanical problems.Coordinate with the procurement team to order necessary parts and supplies.Safety and Compliance:Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.Conduct safety checks and ensure all machinery is compliant with industry standards.Provide training and guidance to operators on proper equipment handling and maintenance.Skills:Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.Proficiency in reading technical manuals and schematics.Familiarity with diagnostic tools and software.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Good physical condition, capable of handling heavy parts and tools.Excellent communication and record-keeping skills.Working ConditionsEnvironment: Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings, often in varying weather conditions.Physical Demands: Requires physical strength and stamina to handle heavy parts and equipment, as well as the ability to stand, kneel, and bend for extended periods.Hours: Typically full-time, with potential for overtime during peak construction periods or emergency repairs.Email your CV to clintjobs@wcp.co.za#J-18808-Ljbffr
