An innovative recycling plant located on the Dolphin Coast, KZN, is seeking a local Shift Supervisor to play a pivotal role in their journey into the African recycling market. Please note only candidates that are local to KZN will be considered. As a Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for the optimal achievement of production plans as well as for compliance with and achievement of the specified quality specifications. You will monitor and coordinate all tasks of the assigned employees and the organization of machines and materials. You ensure that the recycling line is running safely, smoothly, and producing high quality rPET material. Tasks&responsibilities: Supervise production activities by ensuring that products are produced and packaged in correct quantities in accordance with agreed specifications. Ensure products are produced according to quality standards. Record products produced and problems encountered during shift to ensure the smooth changeover of shifts accurately. Manage non-performance and disciplinary issues on shift with HR/Production Manager Ensure all employees understand and follow company policies and procedures. Ensure all employees work in a safe manner by following company health, safety, and housekeeping regulations. Lead the team, ensure team works together as efficiently as possible, assess training needs of staff and coordinate training with Production Manager/ HR. Ensure adequate staffing to cover absenteeism and holidays, as well as normal operations. Conduct performance evaluation on a regular basis. Attend meetings with Production Manager Report and review employee concerns and issues with the Production Manager Maintain good housekeeping within the department. Ensure on-going awareness of Quality, Food Safety, Environmental and Health and Safety Management Responsible to report any risks identified for Quality and Food Safety, Environmental Health, and Safety Management Years of professional experience&Educational background: Minimum of 5 years' supervisory experience in a manufacturing company, preferably in plastic recycling, plastic industry, or food packaging. (Food Manufacturing Experience would be 1 st prize) Technical diploma at a minimum of NQF6 Supervisory training or qualifications are an added advantage. Technical background Good process and systems understanding Ability to train personnel. Thorough understanding of Health and Safety practices High cleanliness standards for the machines and work area Medically&physically fit (Assisting operators from time to time) Experience in managing a team of at least 10 employees (Operators&Pickers or similar) Previous experience working on a shift basis required. English and basic understanding of Zulu.
