About the role This vacancy is for a permanent Air Traffic Controller at QueenstownTower, with an initial, defined period as Queenstown Tower Team Leader, As TeamLeader, you will be leading a close-knit team of controllers in our QueenstownTower, championing high standards and excellence in training to safely andsuccessfully deliver services to our customers every day. Whilst this ispredominantly a leadership role you will be required to hold a current ATClicense. As a Team Leader, you will represent the face of Airways to ourcustomers and within our business; you will have the ability to communicateacross many layers while actively supporting the aims of our company to delivera safe, efficient and sustainable service. QueenstownTower sector is a 7 days a week (may include nights), shift working rosterwhich is based on a four days on, two days off rotating pattern with average ofapproximately 35 - 40 hours of work per week. Airways is an NZ Immigration Accredited Employer.The base salary range for an Air Traffic Controller sits between $98,083– $143,586and will be based off previous experience. Additional roster allowances andsuperannuation will be offered on top of base salary and are subject to changefrom time to time, depending on the roster construct, and duties undertaken.These allowances and superannuation contributions may take the total package tobetween $133,598 – $195,578 (current at time of publication). The Team Leader responsibilitycarries a responsibility loading of 20% that will be paid for the duration ofthat stint. Please be aware that the Team Leader responsibility loading is excluded from the above total remuneration calculations. Yourinitial Team Leader stint is for a period of two years. Within three months of the expiry of theinitial two-year period, Airways will consider, in consultation with you,whether to offer you a further two years stint as Team Leader. Uponthe end of your Queenstown Tower Team Leader stint, you will continue in your fulltime, permanent employment as a Queenstown Tower Air Traffic Controller. The successful applicant will: Havedisplayed an impressive ability to lead others and effectively manage thesafe and efficient delivery of Air Traffic Services. Have provenexperience in building positive and professional relationships withcustomers, ideally at an International Tower unit where traffic demandsometimes outstrips available capacity. Haveexperience maintaining optimum proficiency standards and ATS training. Bewilling and able to obtain Controller ratings and OJTI check ratings atQueenstown Tower. Have acurrent controller license. Previousexperience of controlling at a fast paced and complex Tower. The role of TeamLeader will initially be for two years and renewable for a further two-yearterm by mutual agreement.At the end of the agreed term, you would revertto a controller position.
