Our Human Resources team is looking for a strategic, collaborative and culture-centric HR Leader who will partner with key stakeholders to deliver on the HR and Company strategy.This position, reporting to the Group HR Executive, is based at our Regional Office in Johannesburg and is an exciting and challenging opportunity that will require the successful candidate to partner with and empower stakeholders to achieve departmental and company objectives.PurposeTo support the business and HR strategy by aligning the retail operations strategy and driving it with the Regional Retail Operations Management team. This role will partner with stakeholders to proactively develop and execute the People Goals that support the growth, performance and future objectives of the business. Furthermore, the Regional HR Leader will lead and develop a professional, agile and connected Regional HR team and ensure operational excellence in the development and execution of HR services and operational plans.Key ResponsibilitiesWork in partnership with the HR leadership team, to develop and execute HR strategies in full support of the business strategy.Develop and implement action plans to achieve agreed HR and business objectives in line with Company principles and values.Actively support and participate in the execution of HR projects and interventions.Partner with key business stakeholders through building and maintaining effective relationships.Lead, manage and drive the performance and development of the Regional HR team to reach their full potential within their respective areas.Ensure sound, fair and strategic HR practices in line with legislation as well as our Company’s vision of being a #1 Employer. This includes but is not limited to:Implement sound talent acquisition and management practices.Implement sound employee and employer relations practices.Drive and maintain our culture and team member experiences (employee lifecycle management).Effectively and accurately perform and control administrative services and functions.Maintain knowledge and compliance with all labour laws and regulations.Drive continuous improvement and self-developmentExecute and deliver on ad-hoc duties and responsibilitiesKey Requirements (Experience and Qualifications)Matric with a relevant tertiary qualification is important. A post graduate qualification in a related field is advantageous.10 years of functional HR Generalist / HR Business Partner experience in the retail industry, which includes experience and a sound understanding of best practices and trends across the full spectrum of HR services and functions is essential.4-5 years of HR managerial experience in the retail industry / shared services / operations environments is required.Proven experience in developing and implementing strategic HR action plans is key.A sound working knowledge of all SA labour legislation is important.Good understanding of HR administrative, consulting, and transactional activities is a key requirement.Practical knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook is important. (Preference will be given to candidates with intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Excel).Experience working with HR and Payroll Information Systems is critical (Preference will be given to candidates with PaySpace experience).A valid driver’s license and own vehicle is required.Key SkillsBusiness acumen: Understanding of the organization's business operations and financial metrics to provide HR support that aligns with business goals.Strategic thinking: Ability to align HR strategies with the organization's overall objectives and to develop short and medium-term plans for the HR department.Leadership: Ability to lead and inspire a team of HR professionals and to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Communication: Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with employees, managers, and senior executives.Analytical skills: Ability to analyze HR metrics and data to identify trends and make recommendations to improve HR programs and initiatives.Problem-solving: Ability to identify problems, develop solutions, and make recommendations to senior management.Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing business needs and to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.Key Competencies:Resilient & tenacious in a fast-paced & ever-changing environment.Ability to prioritize, manage your time, maintain high levels of drive & initiative while under pressure.The ability to influence and negotiate positive outcomes.Sound judgement and decision-making skills.Ability to effectively budget, plan for the team & projects and manage costs.Attention to detail and accuracy.Results and solution focused.Ability to manage and resolve conflict.Proactive, innovative, passionate, committed, self-motivated, driven and trustworthy.Please note: The Cape Union Mart Group is committed to transformation.
