The Position The QC Technician supports daily QC activities with regards to reagent preparation, stock management, replenishing consumables and receiving internal item requests. Supports Manufacturing activities by performing nuclease testing of PW Type. Maintains laboratory inventory levels for laboratory supplies. May write experimental reports, summaries and protocols where required. The Opportunity: Performing a variety of duties that are critical for QC testing and related activities. Preparing reagents for use in QC testing, such as autoclaved water, buffer preparation and buffer aliquoting. Responsible for weekly water monitoring in collaboration with the Validation department, to ensure water used in routine Manufacturing of products is free of nuclease contamination. Performs end-point and qPCR nuclease testing of water samples according to predefined Quality Control Instructions. Independently monitor and oversee consumable inventory. Liaise with the Q Administrator with regards to purchasing material. Assist with stock taking of internal and external control reagents, where required. Responsible for receiving external reagents and applying appropriate labels to ensure expire reagents are not used in regular testing. Ensuring that control reagents are stored in the correct locations and storage conditions, to ensure reagent integrity and compliance to QMS requirements Assisting with capturing and issuing of retention sample requests. May assist the CIR department with volume-related investigations. Actively participating in the CAPA/NCR/CR process. Initiate NCRs where OOS results were obtained for water testing and drives to completion. May assist with some actions in CAPAs and CRs. Occasionally executing on QC testing according to standard procedures and within specified time frames. Interpreting data independently and completing QC reports in an accurate and timely manner. Performing incoming testing of new DNA stocks by evaluating DNA integrity using gel electrophoresis. Who you are: You have National Diploma/Bachelor’s degree from a recognized tertiary institution in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology or relevant discipline. 1 year Experience working in a laboratory environment or related field Knowledge, Skills and Abilities An understanding of the concepts associated with Quality Control. Personal Competencies: Attention to detail, building relationships, drive to achieve, planning and organising, initiative, teamwork. Interpersonal Competencies: Positive attitude, time management, strong work ethic, communication.
