My client, a well established supply chain and transport company in Stellenbosch is seeking to employ an Operations Manager to join their team.The ideal candidate will have a Logistics degree or adequate industry work experience, 7 years transport experience and 5 years Operation Management experience. Duties:Packhouse Communication:Daily ordersCommunicate ETA’s/DetailsLoad NumbersVehicle statusCheck additional loadsGet loads from the PH for the next dayCommunicate packhouse ETA’s and vehicle details to Packhouse (PH) managerEnsure all load numbers are communicated to PH ManagerUpdate and communicate ETA’s of trucks at PH to PH ManagerTransporter management:Vehicle commitmentManage arrival timeAd-Hoc priceManage late vehiclesDeviationsGet daily commitment from transportersFollow up on vehicles that have to load on the day to ensure no delaysManage the price of ad-hoc's to ensure season rate is under the benchmarkEnsure minimum ‘stand-over’ loads by identifying late vehicles, and replacing with new vehiclesAssist transporters with any possible deviations at portOperational:Capture data on Datatim/TMSSend load confirmationsBooking SlotsAll loads to be captured on Datatim/TMSAll transporters to have load confirmation sent prior to vehicles leaving PHBook vehicle offloading slot in harbor, and communicate to transporterHarbor PermitsAssist other departmentsEnsure all vehicles that require harbor permits have valid permitsAssist other departments within Group with tracking informationAdministration:POD capturingClaim ProcessDaily activitiesAssist finance dept with POD data capturing when neededUnderstand and follow claim processSystems:Power BIDatatim/TMSAssist with development of PowerBI systemOperational Management:Oversee other areasClient communicationTransporter communicationFeedbackAssist and guide other employees to ensure all areas run smoothlyBuild a trustworthy relationship with all clients.Have weekly feedback with service providersWeekly progress reportsRisk ManagementTrack and manage rate vs BenchmarkWork closely with Sales team season, and take charge of weekly operation meetingManage credit limits and proof of transporter GITEnsure that other areas also stay under the benchmarkEnsure sales team understand areas of concerns/potential targets regarding clients and service providersRequirements:Min MatricLogistics degree or adequate industry work experienceMust be able to work independently, must be able to work under pressureHigh levels if communication skillsExcellent people management skillsEnergetic and innovativeAble to work long & flexible hoursHigh level of computer skills (Datatim/Power Bi/MS Office/Qlikview)Experience required:7 years transport experience3 years Operation Management experience Based in Somerset West, Helderberg Personnel was establishedin 1998.
