The successful candidate will report to the Customer Services Manager. PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The CHEP Pallet Controller will be responsible for monitoring and reconciling inbound and outbound pallets. The individual should have strong attention to detail, problem solving skills, and an understanding of the management of CHEP pallets. They must also be able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. The CHEP Pallet Controller should handle queries so they can be resolved effectively and efficiently and oversee the process from dispatch to de-hire of the pallets and to ensure there is minimum adverse impact on the business. To ensure effective administration and management with regards to the CHEP recovery process. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: Pallet Management Manage all administrative functions related to CHEP Pallet Recovery. Responsible and accountable for pallet control on behalf of McCain Foods Limited Responsible for the management of pallets in the trade and at customers nationally Fully reconciled pallet audit with zero pallet losses, physical pallets must balance to system Ensure that accurate CHEP documentation are kept as hard copies and such documentation is always available when needed Resolve all outstanding queries to prevent excessive costs on the Chep account. Organize and co-ordinate weekly and monthly pallet counts and reconcile to eliminate losses Coordinates pallet stock takes for McCain and 3PL Warehouses Liaise with clients with regards to recoveries and ensure that they comply with McCain pallet management process. Manage the reconciliation of CHEP pallet invoices and resolve any discrepancies/ dispute as quickly as possible Customers that have returned pallets, ensure that the credits are passed, and the return slips are sent to CHEP to reconcile on their end. Interact with Inhance / the transporter and customer to recover pallets from previous deliveries. Develop and implement pallets processes/systems to minimize and mitigate financial costs. Review and provide pallet reports, ensuring compliance and identify continuous improvements Responsible for the update of CHEP details for customers on master data Continuous training and guidance of Receiving and Dispatching Clerks pallet capturing, THANs endorsement and issuing of pallet control documents daily. Identify opportunities to move client accounts over to Transfer Agreements and reduce PCN agreements Reporting Pallets out in trade for the Direct Network – provide a weekly report (every Tuesday) to the relevant parties to ensure that pallets outstanding are recovered within 30 days. Weekly report on outstanding pallets in trade to include a plan of recovery Weekly, fully reconciled report on physical pallets out in trade. The pallets out in trade must balance to system and the McCain Finance report Monthly feedback on pallets showing month on month trend and improvements with recoveries Manage SLOBs with EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 5 or more years in a similar environment 3 or more years’ experience working on CHEP Portfolio Plus will be an added advantage Pallet management and knowledge of CHEP agreements (THAN’s and PCN) PERSON SPECIFICCATION Knowledge&Skills: Import and Incoterms Analytical. Abilities&Competence: Good communicator with the ability to form and maintain good relationships internally and externally. Commercial and financial awareness with a full understanding of how failure impacts the costs, production, manufacture and customer order fulfilment. Results orientated and organized with the ability to plan and deliver against deadlines. Strong analytical, planning and problem solving skills. Excellent attention to detail skills. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Matric CHEP certification will be advantageous Logistics Management Certification The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position.
