This position is responsible for managing the Credit Risk Management function of a niche bank, South Africa under the supervision and guidance of Head of Credit. Assist Head of Credit in implementation of the credit strategic objectives and delivery of the Bank’s objectives. This position will report directly to Head of Credit. Key Responsibilities: Key accountabilities include but not limited to ensuring credit quality at the approval stage, monitoring the ongoing credit dynamics of the loan portfolio at a macro and micro level post sanction and the compliance of credit risk with Group Policy and local regulatory guidelines. The key challenge in this role is to constantly mitigate risks through a combination of routine&pro-active checks on individual credits and the portfolio. Provide assistance to Head of Credit in fulfilling the following accountabilities and or responsibilities: Responsible for Credit Applications/ Credit line proposals (CLP) which will entail: Examination and assessment of credit applications and supporting documents by applying sound credit, risk and financial principles, while factoring industry, regulatory and business risks and where applicable mitigating with appropriate conditions and covenants Ensure up to date trading and financial information is received for applications Analyze financial statements and input remarks Ensure compliance with SARB and NCA requirements Submit recommendation memo to the credit committee Preparation of the letter of Facility and Limit Sanction Advice Oversee the Preparation of Securities including: On attendance of offer by client, prepare security documents Registration of mortgage bonds and cessions of short term insurance policy (including fire policy) Capture securities in HPLUS Maintain safe custody of security documents Analyze periodic debtors lists and stock reports Regular updating of insurance values and property valuations Legal Accounts: Attend to legal matters and correspond with attorneys and until recovery Renewal and Monitoring of Facilities: Ensure all facilities are renewed annually Regular monitoring of Excess Over Limits&Temp ODs not timeously settled Identify and manage high risk clients through to rehabilitation or collections Identification of non-compliance by clients with regards to the terms and conditions as set out in the finance facility agreement via inter alia monitoring of credit covenants Provision of monthly reports to the Credit Committee Ensure reporting in alignment with the National Credit Act Advances classification Collateral and FAP Rating reports Preparation/Collation of reports relating to Local Management meetings and Board meetings Preparation/Collation of reports relating to internal&external audit as well as attending to ad hoc regulatory requests Training: Conduct training interventions relating to credit matters Client Visits: Visit selected clients with branch/area managers Requirements: Bachelors B Com Degree (majors in accounting and audit), a Post-Graduate Degree and preferably a CA Minimum of 6-8 years’ credit and risk experience within a banking organization. Relevant International Certification(s) will be an added advantage Job Competencies: Approachable and polite, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, providing accurate information, deadline driven and client service orientated, taking initiative and influencing outcomes, ability to coach and mentor.
