Role Purpose/Business Unit: To ensure that all Vodacom Group companies maintain high standards of corporate governance, particularly regarding the management of business ethics and digital ethics standards and requirements. Your responsibilities will include: Drive, influence, and implement ethics strategies within the business and across all Vodacom markets and subsidiaries. Design and develop training content and provide training to all Vodacom leaders, employees, contractors, business partners, suppliers and subsidiaries on business ethics and digital ethics on a continuous basis. Performing business and digital ethics risk assessments and developing and implementing risk management strategies (systems and controls) in respect of key ethics risk areas. Manage and promote the code of conduct and ethics-related policies (Responsible AI principles, Conflict of Interests, SpeakUp, Bullying and Harassment etc) to address ethics and governance issues on a continuous basis. Preparation of reports to Risk, Audit, Social and Ethics Committees, Vodafone, the ESG Team, and other auditors on progress with the implementation of the Vodacom business and digital ethics programmes The ideal candidate for this role will have: Postgraduate university degree in the appropriate discipline, preferably social or behavioural science (e.g., Applied ethics, governance); and Certification as an Ethics Officer with The Ethics Institute will be an advantage. At least 8yrs years of relevant post-graduate experience in ethics or governance or related functions. Experience in developing, implementing, and managing ethics programmes across various entities, including providing ethics advice, conducting ethics risk assessment, developing appropriate strategies, policies, training, communication campaigns and reporting will be an advantage. Understanding or experience in driving a digital ethics programme would be an advantage. Required to travel to various Vodacom markets and subsidiaries to drive awareness on ethics standards and to assess the ethical climate culture in those entities. Core competencies, knowledge, and experience: Provide ethics and governance advice and provide ethics opinions to relevant stakeholders. Collaborate with key stakeholders to drive of Ethics Programmes (Doing What’s Right and the digital ethics programme). These include Forensic, Compliance, Technology, ESG, Human Resources, Supply chain management and contract management Teams. Digitilisation of ethics systems to improve access for all stakeholder groups and improve efficiencies of the ethics management systems. Conduct ethics reviews and assessments of high-risk ethics incidents or complaints. Excellent communication, reporting and presentation skills.
