Swiss Re has established its P&C direct insurance subsidiary in South Africa with the aspiration to expand its commercial business in South Africa and Africa. This is an exciting time to join SRCSA as the company develops and builds up its capabilities. Integrated into a dynamic team, the Financial Analyst will report into the SRCSA Chief Financial Officer and work with finance colleagues within the Swiss Re Group regionally and globally, as well as interacting with South African external stakeholders. The role provides exposure to the entire global group, allowing for opportunities to learn and grow. Key Responsibilities: • Coordination and preparation of all Local annual and quarterly financial and regulatory reporting on an IFRS 17 basis, including annual financial statements (AFS) and SAM QRT's• Performance of IFRS 17 and other Finance-related checks and processes for the quarterly and annual closing process, including relevant process documentation• Preparation of the finance reports, and related commentary, for all Steering Committee, Board, Audit Committee and Management Committee meetings • Support with the annual planning process and ORSA• Monitoring of monthly operating expenses as compared to the plan and forecast• Support CFO with the functioning of an adequate internal control environment• Engagements with the external auditors for the sign-off of the annual financial statements and annual SAM quantitative reporting templates (QRT's).• Effective collaboration with Local and Group functions (e.g. GCM, Operations, Claims, Underwriting and Group Finance)• Support with the Group IFRS17 program • Project support on an ad hoc basis About You An ideal candidate possesses strong agile, proactive, pragmatic approach to problem identification and solution and is able to work under tight deadlines and with multiple stakeholders. You demonstrate high performance and personal accountability and are flexible to work in both a collaborative team environment as well as independently. • Chartered Accountant South Africa or equivalent qualification• A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience (post articles), 2 of those 3 years in a South African insurance legal entity, with financial accounting and reporting experience• Strong expertise in South African Insurance reporting, including IFRS 17 We provide feedback to all candidates via email.
