The Bid Manager (“BM”), holds a senior management role in the management team of our client, a market leader in the design, engineering, supply and assembly of award-winning structures for luxury resorts globally. It demands commercial savvy, rigorous attention to detail and a deadline driven commitment. It is both front-end and highly collaborative across internal functions and externally.The BM function is toconstruct persuasive commercial proposals whilst skillfully managing cost data, contingencies and gross profits from pre-contract through the preparation and initial design contract stages (RIBA 1-3) for the client and associated companies.Duties & ResponsibilitiesReporting:The Bid Manager will report to the CEO.The Estimator will report to Bid Manager.Principal Management Responsibilities:1) Standardized Databases, Models & TemplatesCost databasesCost modelsPrice & Profit modelsContract templates2) Project Proposals (“Bids”)Assessment and Brief developmentMeasurement & Quantification (Services & Materials)Costing, Pricing and Profit modellingEstimates/Tenders/Quotations submissionProject Contract suite development3) RIBA 1-3HandoversCost Planning/FeasibilityDetailed Tasks and Duties (including but not limited to):Develop and maintain databases: supplier rates, assembly rates, service rates. Local and international supply/service optioneering.Develop and maintain reliable database linked project costing templatesUpdate and maintain contract templatesDevelop and maintain reliable linked pricing templatesLeverage technology and AI to improve workflow and cost efficienciesConstruct contract bid proposals tailored to each project needsAssist Product team in establishing and maintaining Cost Data and Pricing tablesConstruct Design fee proposals (RIBA stage 1-6, or parts thereof)Construct ‘roll-out’ fee proposals (Design, Supply, Install)ArchivingHandover to the Design dept, Project Management deptPost HandoverDesired Experience & QualificationQualifications:• Degree in Business Administration, Professional Project Management and/or Quantity Surveying or combination thereof.• Architectural and/or Engineering degree also useful provided combined with one of the above.General attributes:• Commercially savvy. Highly effective negotiator.• Rigorous analytical skills & attention to detail• Ability and willingness to learn technical information• Excellent written communication & interpersonal skills.• Keen ability to collate cost data whilst working across multi-disciplinary teams• Disciplined with reporting, database & document control• Excellent time management skills & deadline driven• Proactive, self-starterSpecific Skills sets:• Ability to interpret client briefs, RFI’s and tender requests, with experience in preparing professional and persuasive responses & related documentation to such.• Strong track record (8 years +) in business administration, project management and/or quantity surveying.• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in construction project cost management.• Knowledge of various construction technologies, raw materials & their application• Ability to read & interpret technical documents & drawings (architectural / engineering)• Ability to allocate technical resource costs and fees on both activity base methods as well as to industry guidelines (RIBA, SACAP etc) and accepted norms.• Ability to compile rates and estimate early stage costs based on area schedules.• Ability to accurately measure material quantification from schematics and detailed designs and apply costings, contingencies in different volume metrics.• Understanding of international trade, INCO terms and freight costs is useful• Legal knowledge (contracts, procurement, clauses for delays & VO’s, dispute resolution, etc.)• Keen financial understanding and application (cost, pricing, GP, budgets, exchange rates, contingency).• Ability to develop and engineer appropriate pricing methods in collaboration with Sales team.• Proven advanced Excel skills.Package & RemunerationRemuneration: Market relatedcommensurate with qualifications and experience + 13th Cheque + annual incentive bonus (latter due after 1 years’ completed service)Hybrid working environmentPlease email your Cv to: ros@smilers.co.za#J-18808-Ljbffr
