General Reinsurance, South Africa Branch (a subsidary of General Reinsurance AG) is offering an opportunity for Claims Specialist in our Life Australia, UK, SA, Canada division. Key Responsibilities The Role This position reports to the Claims Manager for the LifeHealth Claims Team. The Claims Specialist will be responsible for the deliveryof Gen Re’s claims proposition in South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa. Thisincludes, but is not limited to, the assessment of reinsurance liability,training development and delivery, audit activities as well as representing thecompany by way of presentations and seminars at various Gen Re and industrymeetings and conferences as requested. The Claims Management team exists to assist in the Company’smanagement of profitable reinsurance business. It does this by: Making correct claims decisions including which claims arevalid&which are not valid and which claims can be rehabilitated. Undertaking focused research, which will generate competitiveadvantage through superior understanding of risk. Creating an image of the company as a thought leader throughclient meetings, articles, and presentations. Monitoring client claims management practices and ensuringthey remain rigorous. Therole entails: Assess and administer claims from a variety of product lines,including Life, Critical Illness and Disability Claims  according to the Gen Re Claims philosophy and standards Provide Claims support to the new treaty quotation process Support the marketing of Gen Re Claims service and expertise Develop and implement the Gen Re Claims training programme Participate in client audits, evaluating procedures andsuggesting potential improvements Build on the existing relationships of the Gen Re ClaimsTeam’s Internal and External Clients Conduct research and remain up to date with latest claimstrends across the globe Produce articles and presentations for Gen Re publicationsand events Maintain Industry involvement through membership of relevantindustry committees Qualifications&Experience Degree in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy or any other relevant qualification At least 2 years assessment experience At least 3 years clinical experience Excellentoral and written communication skills Ability to produce quality work in a timely manner Ability to work both independently, and in a teamenvironment Strong analytical skills Ability to work in challenging situations with anability to multi-task, be flexible, adaptable and a self-starter Strong attention to details Highly developed interpersonal skills Ability to remain calm under pressure Solid software skills Fluent English, a second language would beadvantageous (Reinsurer licensed to conduct composite insurance business) 2nd Floor,Waterway House North, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town, 8002 (South Africa) Preferencewill be given, but not limited to, candidates from designated groups in termsof the Employment Equity Act and our employment equity policy.
