Salary R25 000 - R40 000 depending on experience Job Description A company focused on developing learning communities that foster holistic growth and well-being for students, teachers and parents is looking for a Bookkeeper to join their team. Initially, the Bookkeeper will assist the Financial Accountant in maintaining the financial operations of the existing learning communities. In the long term, the successful candidate will help to build the foundations for a scalable finance function across many more learning communities. Responsibilities: • Accounting: Ensure that the accounting records are accurate, complete and valid each month and support Financial Accountant to prepare monthly management accounts (e.g., draft income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statements) • Accounts payable&payments: Support of procurement processes alongside each school's Operations Manager, review of age analysis, reconciliations, payments, etc. • Accounts receivable and billing&collections: Management of the accounts receivable, bad debt provisions, review of age analysis, reconciliations, support Debtors Manager where/ if required • Audit: Support the Financial Accountant to address any external audit queries, etc. • Compliance&statutory: CIPC, COIDA, etc. • Fixed asset register: Maintenance of fixed asset registers. • Internal audit and related internal controls: Support Financial Accountant to conduct regular internal audits, review of controls, etc. • Payroll: Including PAYE, UIF, SDL etc. • Systems&processes: Support the Financial Accountant to design, development, optimisation and implementation of internal systems, processes, policies and procedures (incl. automation of processes) Requirements Minimum requirement is a 3-year degree in accounting or financial management Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role. Education sector experience would be advantageous Excellent organisational and time management abilities Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills Attention to detail with a strong focus on execution A committed team player with good communication skills Self-starter who takes initiative #J-18808-Ljbffr
