Responsibilities:Manage all aspects of the Engineering Team for Tenders, execution, and standard product development. Continued improvement in designs, efficiencies from both engineering and costing perspectives. Ensuring all designs are fit for purpose and cost-effective. Support procurement with manufacturing and material cost optimization and review. Manage integration/interface between design and manufacturing (in-house or outsourced) to ensure efficiencies and clear communications. Manage and motivate staff. Plan and coordinate all activities of the department. Provide technical support to the services department. Supervision of all drawing office work. Supervision of equipment schedules and data sheets on live projects. Representation at internal and external “HAZOP” meetings. Supervision of drawing registration, records, and storage of documentation. Ensure commercial and technical compliance with clients’ needs. Minimize technical and commercial risk to the Company through careful consideration of the engineering designs offered. Ensure Lean principles are implemented within the division.Duties:Set engineering strategy, procedures, control systems, coordination mechanisms, and budget objectives in line with objectives and policies. Identify and take necessary corrective action to achieve engineering objectives. Work closely with Execution and Tendering to ensure that from an engineering design perspective Projects and Tenders are executed within the project budget, punctually within the project schedule, and according to the clients’ specifications. Ensure that technical/engineering information provided to the Project Execution team satisfies clients’ specifications and requirements but is also such that the profit on Projects can be maximized without undue risk. Work closely with the execution team to ensure that accurate Financial targets and objectives are set for the services division. Accompany Business Development staff as well as staff from other Divisions to meetings and sites as required to conduct site audits and reviews. Ensure effective workflows between engineering and manufacturing to ensure compliance to project and internal specifications and to minimize delays and losses due to rework and related site installation delays. Ensure all designs are practically executable on site by the installation and commissioning teams. Ensure the standardization of systems in the Engineering Division is concluded as required. Ensure the transfer of relevant engineering documentation, methodology, and standards from Headquarters and other Group subsidiaries to Company's and clients where required. Perform all duties to the latest ISO 9001 quality standard requirements. Maintain safety precautions, sound housekeeping principles, and due care of all equipment/assets under your control/care. Ensure total confidentiality of all information, internal and external, pertaining to the business of Company's, all its employees, and management. Measure performance of the subordinates in the Engineering Division against set criteria and take appropriate measures to improve performance. Facilitate the training and development of the relevant staff. Discipline staff where required. Support relevant staff as and when required. Participate in the Employment Equity, Skills Development Process, and the BEE requirements. Perform any other duties required by your line manager. Conduct presentations both technical and commercial regarding Company's activities to both internal and external personnel/clients. Conduct training for both internal and external staff/clients.Key Skills:Perform all duties to the latest ISO 9001 Requirements. Function as part of a Team. Ensure total confidentiality of all information, internal and external, pertaining to the business of Company's, all its Employees and, Management. Perform all necessary computer functions. Communicate with clients in a professional manner.Qualifications:Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, or similar relevant qualification.Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a technical/engineering position within a related industry.Strong background regarding EC&I integration and management of multidisciplinary engineering teams (with a specific focus on Mechanical and EC&I).Previous Engineering Management experience of multidisciplinary teams essential.Professional registration with ECSA.Leadership skills.Interpersonal skills.Computer literacy in Microsoft Office, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.Effective Time Management Skills.Superior communication and organizational skills.#J-18808-Ljbffr
