Qualifications & ExpertiseMechanical or Electrical Engineering degree (B.Eng, BSc.Eng), or Equivalent Advanced Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical EngineeringMinimum NQF level 7Certificated Engineer (Government Certificate of Competency, Factories).Code 08 / EB license Job ExperienceA minimum of 5 years within the maintenance / engineering function in a heavy- industry environment pulp and paper, steel processing, mining, etc.A minimum of 3 years in the role of maintenance management or in a senior engineering discipline role within this environment preference given to experience in the management of engineering / maintenance teams.Experience in the management of the following core engineering processes:Management of compliance to the Occupational Health & Safety Act, #85 of1993.People performance and development managementMaintenance quality managementShutdown managementBudgeting and cost managementKeyKey Performance Areas:Effective management of safety during the execution of maintenance activitiesLegal appointment GMR2.7a support to the GMR2.1 in compliance to theexecution of machine-related statutory activitiesProactive management of the personal development of all maintenanceexecution team members ensuring engagement and high-performance withinthese teamsManagement and oversight of the quality of the execution of maintenanceactivitiesEffective risk mitigation relating to technical change within the plantEffective management of equipment and process risk, through engagement withthe production teams in order to achieve the most effective balance of plant riskand outputMaintaining the required condition of plant and equipmentEnsuring the execution compliance of maintenance activities against the definedmaintenance strategies. Further to this, engagement with Production Teams torealise the most effective balance of work week compliance and plant output.Efficient oversight of non-CMMS actions and tasks within the maintenance teams(RCFA tasks, etc.)Effective management of the maintenance execution team against the principlesof the Work Order Management Process (WOMP)Management of the applicable elements within the repairables process toensure effective turnaround of repairable spare partsEnsure compliance to the shutdown schedule for the plant. Further to this,engagement with the Business Unit Head and Production Manager to realise themost effective balance of shutdown schedule compliance and plant outputCompilation of budgets for human, time, and cost resourcing, as per routineprocessCompliance to the defined cost budgets (maintenance spend)Provide support to the Engineering and CMS departments in medium- and long-term processes (*** planning, Root Cause Failure Analysis, etc.)Provide support to the Engineering and CMS departments in continuous development of maintenance processes and resource models (cost budgets,shutdown schedules, spare parts management, etc.)Job Competencies/ Attributes/Skills:Strong leadership skillsExcellent interpersonal skills coupled with good stakeholder managementOutcomes focused on quality deliveryPlanned and organisedAble to effectively persuade, communicate and influence key stakeholdersCompetent conflict management skillsGood judgement and ability to critically evaluate challenges experienced
