Position: Electrical Engineer Location: Randburg Type: Full-time Salary: 40K-70K (Depending on skills and experience) Medical Aid Benefit (Company plan specific) Pension Fund (Company plan specific) Job Summary: The Electrical Engineer will be a key member of our engineering team, responsible for developing control and automation systems for heavy construction equipment. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, test, and launch equipment, ensuring it meets customer requirements and industry standards. Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering or related field. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in industrial or mobile equipment controls design and development. Preferences: Experience with Solidworks, Solidworks Electrical, and Solidworks 3D Routing. Knowledge of CodeSys, C++, Telematics, hydraulic circuits, and 12V/24V DC electric circuits. Familiarity with control systems for off-road construction equipment. Skills and Abilities: Proficient in structured system design techniques. Experience with computer-aided design software. Knowledge of network protocols such as CAN, Ethernet, Wireless 802.11, etc. Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical engineering drawings. Ability to think creatively and propose innovative solutions. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Responsibilities: Work with the Product Management Team to define product specifications before design initiation. Utilize structured system design techniques to develop control strategies for heavy construction equipment. Incorporate sensor technologies and process automation techniques to enhance equipment operation and troubleshooting. Design equipment according to domestic and international electrical standards to minimize manufacturing complexity. Develop modular and easy-to-diagnose electrical hardware designs. Conduct bench tests and code unit tests to validate design functionality. Use computer-aided design software to create electrical and electronic design drawings. Develop PCB layout designs and 3D junction box designs. Create 3D routed wiring harnesses for system designs. Lead electrical design reviews and contribute to product documentation. Identify improvement opportunities for product enhancements or cost reductions. Develop and execute electrical and software test plans. Assist with customer support, manufacturing, service, and purchasing departments as needed. Adhere to safety procedures and company design and coding standards. Safety: Promote a safe and healthy work environment. Adhere to company safety regulations and report any safety issues. Work Environment: Office environment with occasional exposure to a shop manufacturing environment. Field duties may include exposure to mines, road construction, forestry, and recycling sites.
