About the Team Our client is a small but growing accounting firm based in the UK which is focused on working to make businesses improve,grow, and better. Why Are We Hiring? They are looking for a Senior Accountant. This role is a central client-facing role in the practice. The primary objective of the role is to ensure the timely and accurate completion of our recurring work across the client base. Job Summary: The role has an estimated 75:25 split between oversight and execution. The appointee is able to utilize the following team members in order to ensure the timely and accurate completion of the recurring work: Job Description: Communications: Interact with clients in a timely and professional manner over email, telephone and such other means as may be practical from time-to-time. Actively participate in online meetings with clients. Deadline management: In conjunction with the workflow coordinator. Ensure that work is allocated within the team so as to support attainment of filing and reporting deadlines. Work with the director in identifying pinch points within the practice and development of strategies to overcome such issues. Quality control: Ensure that assignees are clear on expectations for each piece of work. Be available to intervene where tasks are overrunning or become stalled. Conduct first line review of work completed by team members and ensure satisfactory resolution of matters arising. Relates to management accounts, VAT filings, year-end accounts and tax returns. Accounts production: Prepare year-end accounts for limited companies, working from source data or bookkeeping software. Tax (corporate and persona): Support clients with ad hoc queries on taxation matters. Prepare self-assessment returns for individuals and partnerships, and corporation tax returns for limited companies. Support the director in the identification of tax-related issues and the provision of advice to clients on taxation matters. VAT: Ensure that all VAT returns are prepared using appropriate rigour. Proactively check that international VAT aspects have been appropriately handled in VAT records. Ensure that clients are aware of MTD and documentation requirements. Consider the appropriateness of available VAT schemes. Specific Responsibilities: Management accounting: Support the preparation of financial forecasts and cash flow projections on an as required basis. Review client records software configurations to ensure they are appropriate to the business conducted by the client. Ensure that all bookkeeping performed within the team is performed on a timely basis and to a good standard (having regard to available supporting documentation) and that issues identified by Xenon Connect have been correctly addresses: Payroll: Act as primary interface between clients and payroller on all payroll, pension and CIS matters. Ensure timely and accurate completion of all payroll and pension related filings (whether regular periodic or ad hoc). Oversee collation of required data for P11D filings. Systems and processes: Be constantly alert to opportunities for technology to assist in the execution of our responsibilities. Ensure that internal practice processes are adhered to across all service lines. Identify any gaps or deficiencies in existing processes, and work with the director to determine remedial actions. Work with the director on assessment of potential software adoptions or changes. Play key role in supporting implementation of any such changes. Projects (Optional depending on experience) Support the director in corporate transaction and fundraising client project activity. Become involved in tax-advantaged schemes such as (S)EIS, EMI, R&D relief. Work with the director in identification of client project opportunities. Requirements To be successful in this role, you will need to have: At least 3 years' experience of preparation of UK accounts and tax returns is essential for the role, as is supervisory experience. Significant experience with at least one of Xero and QuickBooks Online (ideally both). Strong Excel skills Exposure to multi-currency would be beneficial. #J-18808-Ljbffr
