Specialist - Pretoria, South Africa - University of Pretoria To operate and improve the SA SDG Hub's website, including the maintenance of both the frontend and backend; The development, implementation, and improvement of new frontend features and the integration and operation of machine learning products as part of their daily work; To assist and support the team in building and improving new data science products, and act as a contact point for technical questions; and Identify relevant data sources for the SA SDG Hub's business needs, collecting structured and unstructured data and making this data available will also fall within their area of responsibility. Description RESPONSIBILITIES: To operate and improve the SA SDG Hub's website, including the maintenance of both the frontend and backend; The development, implementation, and improvement of new frontend features and the integration and operation of machine learning products as part of their daily work; To assist and support the team in building and improving new data science products, and act as a contact point for technical questions; and Identify relevant data sources for the SA SDG Hub's business needs, collecting structured and unstructured data and making this data available will also fall within their area of responsibility. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: BSc/MSc Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Informatics, or a similar field with minimum two years applicable software development experience REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES): Advanced experience in python, with experience in the Django web framework Experience in fullstack web development and profound knowledge of frontend technologies Experience with version control systems (such as Git) Experience with SQL and database management Familiarity with DevOps practices Experience with other programming languages (such as Java, C++, JavaScript) Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (NLP, clustering, decision tree learning) and their realworld advantages/drawbacks Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills Strong team collaboration and communication skills Strong ability to work independently and take initiative The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent's level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines A comprehensive CV A onepage motivation letter Copies of qualifications CLOSING DATE: 27 February 202- The University of Pretoria is committed to equality, employment equity and diversity._ The University of Pretoria reserves the right to not fill the advertised positions. _#J-18808-Ljbffr
