Monitoring and Evaluation - Senior consultant

The aim of the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) practice at DNA is to facilitate the systematic and independent measurement and assessment of project and programme design, implementation and performance. We conduct M&E with a strategic focus on enhancing performance, outcomes, and impact. We offer a diverse range of services that are customised to meet the specific needs of our clients. Our goal is to provide valuable insights and recommendations that contribute to improved performance, evidence-based decision-making, and enhanced learning within organisations. DNA is looking for a senior monitoring and evaluation consultant to join our M&E practice. The Consultant will be responsible for undertaking M&E across a wide-range of sectors. Responsibilities will include: Drafting evaluation proposals and designing M&E approaches and frameworks; Leading and overseeing the implementation of multiple projects at any given time; Developing data collection tools and fieldwork procedures; Conducting quantitative and qualitative data analysis; Compiling and writing evaluation reports; Developing programme Theories of Change; Presenting to and liaising with clients across a range of sectors; Managing and mentoring junior evaluators; Ensuring that projects are delivered in line with contract agreements and timelines; Administrative responsibilities related to projects and company operations. Requirements Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to qualify: Master’s degree preferably in M&E, research, economics, development studies, or a related social science discipline; At least 5 years of relevant professional work experience in M&E; developing monitoring systems and leading on formative and summative evaluations; At least 2 years of managing research projects and teams (junior management level); Good qualitative, quantitative, and analytical skills, including the proven ability to collate large volumes of qualitative and quantitative data into detailed and concise reports and summaries Strong writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills; Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint); Willingness to travel within Southern Africa; and Legally able to work in South Africa.
