Our commercial roles are unique as they touch and influence every part of the organisation and provide the commercial financial voice in all decision-making within the operating unit. Based in Pretoria West and reporting to the Commercial Director (and partnering with the Operating Unit Director), we are seeking a talented individual to join our team in a pivotal role. As a Commercial Executive, you will play a key role in driving strategic commercial finance support and insights for the Executive team. The job holder will be responsible for : Business Partnership : Acting as a crucial business partner to the Operating Unit Director, offering strategic commercial and financial insights. Strategic Commercial Support: Providing technical and strategic commercial/finance support to the BBR Executive team. Commercial Engagement: Driving continuous, robust commercial collaboration across the Business (matrix organization). Managing and coordinating central and regional financial managers that provide support for operations and the entire operating unit. Profitability Enhancement: Enhancing business profitability through insights and strategic decision-making support. Leadership Demonstration: Exhibiting leadership qualities by fostering a high-performing team. Qualification: BCOM coupled with CA(SA) or CIMA Skills and Experience: More than 15 years’ experience, including operational/commercial finance, and leading senior teams of 10 or moredirect reports Experience in complex processing and/or manufacturing environments Duties&Responsibilities Strategy Contribution and Execution Key support to the Operating Unit Director of the business Participation on the OU Exec team to deliver growth and business performance, and create visibility to unlock key ROIC drivers Provide strategic leadership and expert advice on the commercial/financial strategies required to drive business and profitable growth Coordination of the 1-year and 5-year operating unit strategy process Consolidate and package insightful strat plan presentations Ensure that assigned and agreed strategic targets are operationalized and tracked Engaging and maintaining relationships with various functions in the organization and acting as the Commercial Business Partner for the business (highly matrix organization) Operational Finance, Reporting and Analysis Management of operational finance management teams and well partnering with various cross-functional teams to deliver accurate and on-time financial results are generated Management of operational finance management teams and well partnering with various cross-functional teams to deliver accurate and on-time financial results are generated Leadership of the Business Plans, Forecasting, and Quarterly Business and Deep Dive Reviews; Presentation of the division’s business plans, monthly and quarterly performance forecasts as required Reporting (Flash, Monthly Pack) and presentation of monthly results Revaluations and new standards are accurately applied Ensure Best in Class cost control and reviews (vs plan and bench marketing), are conducted and the implementation of savings/cost efficiencies are executed by the various teams Tracking of key Strategic Actions to ensure the business performance is on track Conduct regular market and competitor reviews and report to the Exco Revenue Management Support the Sales Exec on setting and tracking of pricing strategies as well as mandate executions. Review of list pricing information for quarterly price negotiations and sales deals Implementation and tracking of quarterly and ad hoc pricing changes (especially where commodity prices and other variables changes are volatile) Support Sales Executive on key customer accounts and engagements Engagement with Sales Executives to unlock margin opportunities and influence improved contributions, specific to customers. markets and channels Review and approval of any claims or price deviations New product development Review the commercial feasibility for each gate in the NPD process (customer, channel, and product-specific), including analysis vs strategy Review and question Payback evaluations where significant investment required to launch Ensure post-launch evaluations are conducted and included in quarterly business reviews Profitability Insights and Analysis The setting of required CM/GP targets by site, product, category, customer segment, and channel Analysis and reporting of product, customer, channel, and category profitability performance of the business Regular analysis and review of profitability status and providing insights into the business Implementation of corrective actions and/or strategy change where required Ensure maintenance of costing models utilized by teams within the business to drive promotional and client activity, as well as that existing profitability systems are maintained by the team Tracking and analysis of customer and marketing spend to assess the return Drive Quarterly profitability “deep dives” Capital Investment Review of business *** budget submitted by the business to ensure prioritizing has been done based on the return on investment, risk and ensuring that investment is in line with strategy Evaluate capital investment projects as and when they arise, including necessary return on investments and hurdle rates that have been applied Review and approval of all capital motivations (major projects) and investment opportunities submitted by operational/engineering teams to ensure appropriate application of funds for the business Conducing and reporting post-*** reviews to determine if required targets/hurdle rates were achieved. Member of the strategic business growth team where expansion options are constantly explored (greenfields, acquisition, and partnering options) Compiling of necessary board presentations and motivations Due diligence for any acquisition or partnering ventures Compiling any necessary information/responses for competition commission engagements Act as a Member of Steering committees for any successful investments and business integrations are required Contract Management Review and approval of all supplier and customer contracts Engagement with legal and business partners Governance and Risk Ensure business compliance with all relevant policies Regular review and valuations of the business Risk Register as well as implementation of any necessary mitigation plans Engagement with internal auditors, and external auditors where required Review of internal audit reports and recommendations as well as management review commentary Team leadership Develop and manage high-performance multidisciplinary teams Lead by example and display the required leadership capability to inspire Build a strong team and create depth in the talent pipeline #J-18808-Ljbffr
