Overview Hire Resolve is looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join their client’s team in Pretoria. The Head of Structural Engineering will play a pivotal role in this transition, overseeing the management and execution of multi-disciplinary projects from inception to closeout, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and client satisfaction. Responsibilities: Structure project organization and manage internal project costing and financial aspects. Conduct stakeholder management and needs analysis. Assess and manage project risks, planning, and progress monitoring. Control project changes, report progress, manage information, and communicate effectively. Prepare and manage project specifications, schedules, reports, agendas, minutes, and procurement issues. Manage structural engineering design during all project phases according to client, national, and international standards. Develop and evaluate concept designs technically and commercially to meet project objectives. Lead and mentor a team of engineers, providing guidance and support. Prepare and check prefeasibility studies, feasibility studies, tender designs, construction drawings, and specifications. Oversee construction monitoring and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. Attend site progress meetings and provide field engineering support. Generate new business opportunities and develop technical scopes of work. Assist in setting up standard engineering documentation and methodologies. Manage project resources and adhere to internal procedures and systems. Plan work schedules and leave in conjunction with project engineers and managers. Complete projects within agreed timelines and priorities. Requirements: Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (B Eng / BSc Eng / B Tech Eng). Professional Certification: Professional Engineer / Technologist (Pr Eng / Pr Tech Eng with ECSA). Professional Registration with relevant Project Management bodies (ECSA, SACPCMP, and/or PMI). Experience: Minimum of 6-8 years post-graduate experience in multi-disciplinary roles from client, consultant, and contractor perspectives. Proven track record in business development is advantageous. Skills: Proficient in structural engineering knowledge, especially in reinforced concrete, structural steel, and load-bearing masonry design. Familiar with local and international standards and codes. Ability to develop engineering documentation from first principles. Experience with Prokon analysis and design software; familiarity with ETABS, STAAD, Robot, or similar software is advantageous. Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Access, and Microsoft Project; knowledge of AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit is highly advantageous. Good knowledge of the OHS Act, pertinent SANS codes, standards, and industry practices. Strong communication and people management skills. Capable of working independently and within a disciplined engineering environment. Team player with leadership skills, motivated, and disciplined. Awareness and appreciation for health, safety, and environmental issues. Strong project management skills (PMBOK) are an advantage.
