Introduction NORTH-WEST UNIVERSITY (POTCHEFSTROOM CAMPUS)FACULTY OF HUMANITIESSCHOOL OF MUSICPOSITION NUMBER: P000615VACANCY: ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANTPEROMNES GRADE: 13EMPLOYMENT TYPE: PERMANENT PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: The main purpose of the position is to provide encompassing support associated with the core business of MASARA (Musical Arts in South Africa: Resources and Applications) and the School of Music. All candidates who have a Diploma in Music or a Bachelor of Arts in Music with administrative experience are encouraged to apply. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Performance modules Administrate all aspects of performance module administration at the School of Music. Concert Administration Administrate all aspects of concert administration, including the NWU Concert Series, undergraduate and postgraduate concerts as well as, but not limited to recruitment concerts. MASARA Administration Involved in marketing, sales and ordering of CAPS books. Provide meeting administration for Research and Practical committees. Assist with postgraduate student paperwork. Involved in the preparation of, and administration for symposia, colloquia and workshops. Maintain InfoEd data. Provide administrative support for the North-West Youth Orchestra members and sheet music, organizing concerts and rehearsals, and maintenance and rental of instruments. General administrative assistance to the research director. Liaise with examiners in terms of arrangements for travel, dietary requirements and accommodation, organizing piano tuner, assisting with examiner reports, and assisting at examination concerts. Assist with budget control. Assets and Facilities Coordinate instruments, instrument hire and venues for ensemble rehearsals. Ad hoc tasks Assist with Open Day and Selection Auditions. Assist with reception office duties, coordination and general management of conference, meeting planning, assisting with certain organisational tasks regarding marketing and recruitment. Grade 12 A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in administration. ADDED ADVANTAGES: Diploma in Music on an NQF level 6 or a Bachelor of Arts in Music on NQF level 7. A Bachelor's degree (B.Mus) on NQF level 8 in the field of Music. A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in postgraduate and research administration. A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in concert administration. KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES: Demonstration of language proficiency in order to function optimally in the various multilingual environments of the NWU. Advanced Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), e-mail and internet. Knowledge of the university’s financial systems: KFS, VSS, IDU. Knowledge of the InfoEd system. KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES: Excellent interpersonal skills. Goal-oriented and systematic approach.
