Reference Number: 652 2005 MHU Job Description: Our mining services client is seeking a Site Manager / BU Manager for their client’s operations in Limpopo. This is a remote position. The primary purpose of the role is to oversee a tailings dam operation on a day-to-day basis, and ensure that work is done safely, on time, within budget and to high quality standards. This role carries a MH&S Act legal appointment (Reg. 2.6.1). Responsibilities: Lead the team on the operation Promote a culture of care on the operation Production, maintenance and administration on site Cost control Subcontractor management Manage the Quality, Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality aspects of the company’s activities Ensure that the management and statutory reports are accurate, timeous and of good quality Manage the hazard identification, risk assessment and training systems Lead and participate in operations’ safety inspections and audits Perform incident and accident investigations Manage the implementation of OHSAS 18000+, ISO 14001, ISO 9001 Ensure the client’s accreditation is positively supported by the company’s activities Manage the integration of SHE systems with client operations Maintain discipline on site Maintain an organizational safety culture Maintain excellent housekeeping standards on site Manage the onboarding processes Instill a caring culture and promote wellness among the company’s employees Apply business thinking to add value to the organization Client liaison to ensure healthy relationship on site Requirements: Qualification and Skill Diploma or degree in a Technical qualification (Mining, Civil, Geological, Environmental or Engineering related). Management Development Program (advantageous). At least 5 year’s post qualification experience as management team member in a tailings or production field, HIRA, Legal liability, Discard/Tailings management. Previous experience in bulk materials handling in mining, including coal discard / tailing dam management, Contractor management (key competence). Strong leadership ability Understanding of maintenance principles. Understanding and application of the project contract on site. Good communication skills – both written and verbal. Demonstrable ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment. Computer literacy: Windows operating system, Microsoft Office suite.
