The Infection Control Registered Nurse (ICRN) is responsible for ensuring the safety and health of patients, staff, and visitors by developing, implementing, and maintaining infection control practices and protocols. The ICRN works collaboratively with healthcare teams to identify, prevent, and control infectious outbreaks within healthcare settings. Duties will include but not be limited to:Develop and implement infection control policies and proceduresMonitor and report infection rates and trendsConduct regular infection control rounds to ensure compliance with infection control standardsEducate healthcare staff on infection prevention practicesConduct training sessions on proper hand hygiene, sterilization, and disinfection techniquesProvide updates on new regulations and guidelines related to infection controlPerform continuous surveillance of infections within the facilityAnalyze data to identify patterns and sources of infectionPrepare and present reports to healthcare administration and committeesInvestigate and manage infection outbreaks in coordination with public health authoritiesImplement control measures to contain and prevent the spread of infectionsEnsure that infection control policies comply with state, federal, and accreditation standardsParticipate in policy development and review processesWork closely with the healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, and support staff, to ensure adherence to infection control practicesServe as a liaison between the healthcare facility and public health departmentsParticipate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at reducing infection ratesConduct audits and assessments to identify areas for improvementAdvocate for patient and staff safety by promoting best practices in infection controlAddress any concerns related to infection risks promptly and effectivelyRequirements:Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) requiredCurrent Registered Nurse (RN) licenseCertification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred or must obtain within a specified timeframeMinimum of 3-5 years of nursing experience, with at least 2 years in infection control or a related field
