Coordinate review of all engineering aspects of supplied vendor/contractor’s drawings and documentation.Co-ordinate with Engineering Department and/or contractors and ensure Pr.Eng certified documents are available in time to meet the engineering schedules.Commissioning assistance to start-up and commission newly constructed or refurbished plantsPROJECT ENGINEERINGCoordinate different engineering disciplines in a project environmentResponsible for preparation and approval of project related documents and engineering notes in conjunction with the Engineering Department.Ensure that project engineering activities on assigned projects are executed within budgeted and approved schedules in compliance with project procedures, standards and specifications and in accordance with company procedures and the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of South Africa.Review and approve vendor/contractor documents for equipment/plant and distribute and/or squad check with engineering department.Definition and generation of mechanical, civil and other subcontracts. There-after management of such appointed subcontractors. From inception to procurement, fabrication, installation and commissioningAssist, support and manage the site manager(s) for mechanical, civil and other works contracts with regards to planning and execution.SUB CONTRACTOR, SUPPLIER & SITE INTERFACESGeneration of technical specification for vendor packagesHandle Technical Queries during fabrication or constructionRegular site or shop visits to inspect and verify progress of workPunching and snagging of construction & site workPrepare commercial documentation, RFQ’s, notes and requirements on assigned projectsLead commercial adjudication of supplier proposalsAttend coordination meetings and project engineering review meetings with vendors of major equipment and plant as required.Review document requirements with vendors/contractors and assist Procurement Department in compiling Vendor Document Requirement formsQUALITYAssist with generation of Quality requirements and QCPs for vendor workInterpretation of client & contractual specifications as well as specifying of NDT requirementsInputs to new vendor evaluations and facility visits / auditsInputs and support of quality, health and safety and environmental systemsPerform inspections and witness factory/site acceptance testing where required. Ensure that equipment, plant and packaged units manufacture, testing, installation, commissioning and hand-over to operations and/or client are complete in accordance with the approved project schedule, standards and within allocated budget/schedule.PROJECT MANAGEMENTDeputise for the Project Manager when requestedReview and approve project schedules with the Project Manager to see that all dates, rates of progress and engineering periods are realistic.Provide progress report information, at the required frequency and with the required content, to the Project Manager.Provide information where necessary to estimating the cost of contract changes, Alert the Project Manager to circumstances considered to be subject to contract change.Keep abreast of development in the projects engineering field.Suggest ways to improve efficiency, costs and service in the execution of projects.Assist in the training and knowledge transfer of engineering and projects expertise to company personnel as required.BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIESBSc (Mechanical) / B Eng. (Mechanical), with 4-8 years’ experience.1-3 years’ minimum experience in project engineering and management.1-5 years’ minimum experience in water treatment field will be advantageous.Valid Drivers LicenceProfessional Engineering (Pr.Eng - ECSA)Experience in medium to large scale projectsExperience pertaining to mining installations and operationsKnowledge in chemical and water treatment plant and equipment design / fabrication / testing / installation / commissioningKnowledge in chemical plant and equipment project engineeringMechanical Engineering 3-6 years’ minimum experienceProject Engineering and Management 1-3 years’ minimum experienceWater Treatment field will be advantageous 1-3 years’ minimum experienceKeen interest in technology and innovative application thereofMust be able to meet deadlines and costs;Self-sufficient, responsible, organized;Result oriented;Innovative thinkerEntrepreneurial mind-setFocuses on technical problem resolution;Work within a multi-disciplinary team;Strong communication skills.Always give a high level of professional service to external and internal clients#J-18808-Ljbffr
