Leader in water and wastewater treatment seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design team to turn process requirements into projects. Based in PAARL or JOHANNESBURG.For the position you would be required to have: B. Eng or B. Sc in Mechanical EngineeringPr. Eng registration is a prerequisite requirement.Around 8 years’ experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer in execution of turnkey projects or water/waste/energy projectsGood understanding of CAD software packagesResponsibilities would include you to: Assess and apply client specs in all aspects of the design phase.Assist with Mechanical Installation works costing during tendering – Compile mechanical equipment RFQ’s, material take-offs, detailed Scope of Works for mechanical subcontract, technical evaluations.Assist with the Procurement function during project execution – Compiling mechanical equipment RFQ’s, compiling a detailed Scope of Works for mechanical subcontract, technical evaluations and adjudications, attend and/or lead kick-off meetings with vendors & mechanical subcontractors.Assistance with the design of the layout of the plant.Execution of basic and detailed mechanical design during project execution.Assist in drafting and piping modelling. Responsible for Pipe Stress Analysis and pressure vessel design.Selection and design of Piping Supports.Approval and Issue of “Approved for Fabrication” Drawings, including sign off as Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng), as required.Overseeing of vendor & subcontractor equipment design and fabrication.Manage the mechanical design subcontractor and suppliers to meet deliverables.Interface and expediting between Drawing Office, Mechanical Design Engineers, Fabricators and Quality Control.Liaising with supplementary external consultants and design partners.Provide project-specific input to Project Manager to resolve construction issues during site work.Please apply online or contact Jan van Dyk on 021 – 531 2015 for more information
