The South African Table Grape Industry (SATI) was established in 2004 as the industry association of table grape producers in South Africa.. The organisation is committed to creating a progressive, equitable and sustainable table grape industry.An exciting career opportunity currently exists for an energetic and visionary CEO to ensure that the organisation achieves its strategic, operational, and financial objectives. The incumbent will report to the Board of Directors and will focus on delivering industry services to provide growers with the widest possible choice of profitable markets.Duties will include the following:Strategic leadership regarding industry affairs (not only grapes but fruit and agriculture in general)Producer affairs management and statutory complianceExternal liaison with producers, key role players, government institutions and other industry bodiesFocus on Market Access initiatives (retention and optimising of preferred markets to be prioritised)Provide leadership and manage the following key business areas:Market Development and CommunicationsTransformation initiatives and first-generation grower supportResearch and innovation initiatives funded by producersHuman capacity and skills development at industry levelCommercial industry affairs (data, information, logistics, on-farm profitability)Market access (phytosanitary and sanitary) and technical (pre- and post-harvest)Finance, accounting and administration (including audit, risk, and compliance)RequirementsApplicable Management / Agricultural qualifications (MSc / Masters degree in Agri Economics / Masters degree in Business Administration or similar qualification would be preferable)Ability to foster and develop relationships with producers and other stakeholdersExperience or the proven ability to perform at a strategic executive management levelProven knowledge of or experience in agriculture (organised, scientific or commercial)Strategic insight with regard to all aspects of the value chain within the industryInternational trade and policy experience will be advantageousEnergetic, high level of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skillsDynamic, self-driven and results-orientedAbility to absorb pressure associated with the roleProven track record to perform duties as listed A market-related remuneration package, based on qualifications and experience, will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
