Financial Accountant (Invoicing / Reconciliations / Stock / VAT / GL Accounts) Paarl, South Africa | Posted on 10/05/2024 The successful candidate will review financial reports; monitor accounts; prepare activity reports and investigate ways to improve profitability. Reporting to the Financial Manager, the Finance Accountant will be based in the Western Cape and be responsible for the Financial Officers on 3/4 farms in the area. A valid drivers license is a must-have as this role requires weekly travel. Key Performance Outputs -Travel to farms in respective areas needed- Review supplier invoices from approved purchase orders and ensures it matches the supplier invoice received. Follow up on outstanding purchase orders not yet approved. Review customer, supplier and bank reconciliations Review PMR and all bank payments requests for approval Review daily inventory and inventory journals for stock to the appropriate general ledger accounts. Review stock balances – actual versus theoretical and ensure that variances are recorded correctly Review month-end corrective entries from the approved stock adjustment schedule. Ensure statements and debtors reports are issued by the last day of the month. Process month end and payroll journals. Ensure that intercompany accounts are balanced each month. Follow-up all outstanding payments. All payments must be strictly 30 days from invoice. Understand and implement accounting processes followed by the group and implement these at the farm level VAT reconciliations and submissions to SARS as well as preparing and submitting documents for VAT Verifications and Audits where applicable. Assist in preparing and reviewing annual budgets and report on variances on a monthly basis Ability to meet deadlines Review monthly general ledger allocations to ensure accuracy and completeness Prepare monthly balance sheet recons Assist with continuous improvements in processes Prepare / Review the monthly financials for reporting purposes. Manage direct reports leave, training and career development. Requirements Qualification / Experience B.Comm AccountingDegree / CIMA will be advantageous. Minimum of 5 years’similar experience 3 years’ experienceof managing people. ERP systemknowledge will be advantageous Functional / Technical Intermediatecomputer literacy; MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
