Position Overview: Whilst the Australian and South African tax systems are built on the same principles, an initial learning period will be required to learn Australian personal and corporate taxation. Training and guidance will be provided by Dovetail HR and our Australian accounting firms clients to ensure a smooth transition to competence in Australian taxation. We are looking for an experienced Tax Accountant with a minimum of 3-5 years of practical experience in South African taxation. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling a range of tax-related tasks, ensuring compliance, and providing valuable insights to our clients. Responsibilities : Prepare and review individual, partnership, trust, and company tax returns in accordance with Australian tax laws and regulations (training will be provided) Conduct thorough tax research and analysis to provide accurate advice to clients on tax-related matters. Assist clients in optimizing tax strategies and identifying opportunities for tax minimization. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance. Stay updated with changes in tax laws and regulations and communicate implications to clients and internal stakeholders. Assist in resolving tax-related issues, audits, and inquiries from regulatory authorities. Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 3-5 years of progressive experience in South African taxation within an accounting firm or corporate environment. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex tax legislation. Proficiency in using accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel. Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with clients and team members.
