Duties&Responsibilities • Maintaining brand integrityand product safety whilst performing risk mitigation . • Contribut ing towards the category strategy , ensuring innovative and safe products of  consistent quality . • Develop ing high - quality products using cutting - edge technical innovation that adheres  to  brand values of quality, freshness, innovation, inspiration , f ood  safety and value. • M anag ing and monitor ing the technical team in order to meet  technical strategy , product plan , and ultimately the category strategy . • Technical communication and liaison with the buying team, suppliers, quality team and  production teams . • Positively influenc ing all contributing aspects of the supply chain to optimise quality  and food safety . • Leading f actory and p roduct process audits within the production facility and supply  base . • Formulat ing and/or man aging product specifications , ensuring accura cy. • Ensur ing effective product a ccept/ r eject criteria . • Identif ying and manag ing c ritical c ontrol points (CCPs) within production facilities and  ensur ing that suppliers identify and manage their CCPs correctly . • Overseeing end - to - end q uality management systems within farm production facilities  and among external suppliers . • Provid ing technical input into category, quality management and supplier strategies  and ensur ing effective implementation . • Overseeing p ackaging development , ensuring conformance to legislation . • Ensur ing accurate nutritional information and date marking /coding . • Overseeing effective allergen management within all production facilities and among  suppliers . • Supplier approval/sourcing , based on basic hygiene compliance and risk management . • Shelf - life assessment and implementation . • Manag ing microbiological testing, sp ecifying type of tests, frequency , and accept/reject  criteria for both product and environment . • Improv ing and ensur ing production efficiencies within production facilities and the  supply base . • Raw material sourcing and approval : e nsur ing that production and suppliers source  from approved raw material suppliers, and that specification s and allergen management  practices are in place . • Troubleshoot c ustomer complaint s and perform route cause analys e s . • Uphold i nternational standards for food manufacturing and processing, using cutting -  edge equipment , processing tec hnology knowledge , and experienc e. Desired Experience&Qualification • BS c F ood Science or BTech Food Technology degree with 10 – 15 years’ industry  experience. R elevant r etail experience is required . • Understanding of high - and low - risk f ood processing and the correct management of  cross flow . • Understanding of c old chain management and critical control factors for maintaining  food products in their optimum state . • Practical experience in and understanding of different food preparation stages and  processes . • Knowledge of technical processes and principles , i.e. HACCP, GMP, r oot c ause analys is,  s upply c hain, r aw materials, a llergen management, and m icro and l isteria management . • Proven , relevant industry experience and knowledge across a wide range of food  products . • Technical product knowledge , i.e. product characteristics, raw material sourcing,  manufacturing processes , and quality and safety parameters . • Knowledge of packaging functiona lity and application . • Understanding of environmental management and sustainability.
