Job Description:NCDRU is looking for an enthusiastic scientist to contribute to the development and maintenance of its program of research on the epidemiology of cardiometabolic diseases and other common NCDs. The candidate will also lead research that will identify diet – related factors and interventions/ strategies that are important in the epidemiology of cardiometabolic diseases and other common NCDs in South Africa and the African region.(ads1)Job Responsibilities:Coordinating NCDRU’s research activities that include the development and application of new research methodologies for collecting, processing and analyzing data on lifestyle and healthIdentifying funding opportunities and lead grant proposals writing to attract funding to support the research portfolio of the program.Developing and maintaining a network of collaboration in research on the investigation, prevention and control of cardiometabolic diseases and other common NCDs with a special focus on the diet – related determinants of these conditions in South Africa and AfricaManaging the NCDRU research projects directed at understanding the epidemiology of cardiometabolic diseases and other common NCDsLeading the development and maintenance of an integrated program of research on the epidemiology of cardiometabolic diseases and other common NCDs in South Africa, with a special focus on the diet – related determinants of these conditions.Job Requirements:Experience with post-graduate teaching and supervisionAbility to plan own researchAbility to lead scientific writing, demonstrated through involvement in producing publishable scientific papers as first & / or a senior authorGood communication and organisational skillsAdvanced proficiency with at least one of the following statistical packages: R, SPSS, SAS or STATAPhD in epidemiology / public healthA least 5 years research experience doing research related to the epidemiology of cardiometabolic disease and other common NCDs in the South African and African context in research & / or academic institution,Experience in managing people and projects as a project leaderAbility to multi-task and work under pressureExperience in grant writing as a primary investigator (PI), co-PI or co-investigatorJob Details:Company:South African Medical Research Council – MRCVacancy Type:Full TimeJob Location:Cape TownApplication Deadline: N/A(ads2)Apply Hereinstantcareers.net#J-18808-Ljbffr
