Overview Hire Resolve’s client in the petrochemical industry is urgently seeking the expertise of a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Cape Town. Responsibilities: Responsible for mechanical engineering design in the field of petrochemical projects. Perform mechanical engineering calculations, designs, drawings, and solutions to engineering problems. Prepare reports, liaise with clients, and possess construction knowledge and commissioning abilities. Potential to lead as the head mechanical engineer and supervise junior staff members. Requirements: Strong understanding of piping and pumping systems. Competence in designing mechanical systems with knowledge of hydraulics. Experienced in preparing conceptual and detailed designs including drawings, calculations, project schedules, cost estimates, and datasheets. Familiarity with the tender processes related to mechanical projects. Construction experience regarding the installation of mechanical systems. Knowledge of applicable mechanical engineering codes such as ASME, API, SANS, etc. Ability to travel to site for inspections, kick-off meetings, and progress meetings. Proficient in client liaison concerning mechanical designs. Experience in commissioning mechanical systems and mentoring junior staff. Previous experience in the Oil & Gas / Petrochemical Industry preferred. Familiarity with NFPA and firefighting systems is advantageous. Benefits: Salary: Negotiable, competitive based on experience.
