The Supervisor Engineering Rigging is responsible for overseeing all rigging activities in the section or area of responsibility, ensuring strict adherence to the rigging plan, safety protocols, and standard operating procedures. In this capacity, the Supervisor leads the rigging team in safely executing various tasks such as replacing skips, cages, and ropes, as well as preparing and securing equipment and machinery for use in the underground production sections. The Supervisor is also responsible for all rigging, lifting equipment/tackles, 3 BMR winders and a singly drum winder in a 3000m single drop shaft. Grade 12 or equivalent Rigger Ropesman trade certificate Minimum of 10 years experience as a rigger on deep level mines including Shaft and Winding systems Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicants suitability for employment. Proven track record in safety leadership Proven interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills Independent, proactive thinker and ability to schedule and deliver work within tight deadlines Demonstrate knowledge in mining legislation, especially with regards to lifting equipment, winders, winder ropes, lifting tackle, overhead cranes, lifting equipment, tackle regulations as and winder regulations Demonstrate proficiency in technical problem solving Be computer literate in MS Office Ensure health and safety of self and team members by applying relevant standards and procedures in all planning and execution of maintenance activities Perform inspections in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act regulations, and Company standards Contribute to a culture of zero harm by adhering to all requirements as laid down by legislation, health, safety, environmental, security policies, and procedures, and by the application of specific instructions to own work area and task completion Convene and participate in sectional health and safety meetings, forums, and campaigns Accountable for legal compliance as a 2.9.2 appointee in area of responsibility Evaluate and monitor conformance to mine standards and procedures and codes of practice Manage key performance areas of teams and ensure they are adequately trained to perform their duties Overseeing rigging and heavy lifting work on surface, underground and vertical shaft Manage operational risk with the section or area of responsibility Plan and execute maintenance and repair activities safely and timeously and ensure daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance targets are met Calculate rope capacity and load weight Ensure execution of all functions related to winders and ropes Manage all rigging maintenance related work Ensure ordering of equipment and availability of critical spares Conduct formal Root Cause Failure Assessment (RCFA) to ensure equipment reliability Perform standby duties, attend to call-outs and breakdowns, as required
