Fruitways is an agri-business that specialises in the growing, packing and marketing of apples and pears to retailers, traders and wholesalers around the globe. ACCOUNTANT 16 May 2024 We have an exciting opportunity for an Accountant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate needs to be a proactive individual who is focused on producing accurate, detail-orientated work in a in a deadline driven environment. Reporting to the Group Finance Manager, you will work at the Fruitways Marketing Office in Somerset West. Responsibilities: • Prepare and collect monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensure they meet company guidelines and requirements. • Review and report exceptions for Creditors Control, Debtors Control, Salary and Wage Control, and Bank Reconciliation. • Initiate, prepare, and process both standard and adjusting monthly journals, and distribute monthly general ledger reports to operational personnel. • Maintain the general ledger, reconcile intercompany loans and transactions, investigate income statement variances, ensure all open batches are processed, and assist with Sage 300 module maintenance. • Check, approve, and release EFT payments, and ensure the accuracy and validity of petty cash and credit card transactions. • Collect stock take information from operational units, conduct monthly stock count inspections, and reconcile physical counts with theoretical stock values. • Report stock variances to operational units and ensure resolutions and create new stock codes as needed. • Provide guidelines and support for annual audit stock count preparations, including arranging and resourcing test counts by finance staff. • Assist in the preparation and review of draft management accounts and forecast data analysis, supporting management accounting in producing accurate management account packs and monthly reports. • Ensure that all process descriptions as documented, current and evaluated with management for efficiencies. Requirements: • 3 Year diploma/degree (postgraduate degree highly advantageous) • Minimum 3 years’ experience in similar role • SAICA/SAIPA articles advantageous • Advanced Excel • Proven understanding of accounting principles and policies • Ability to work accurately and meet deadlines • Professional written and verbal communication skills • Sage 300 or similar accounting package Please note that the position will be filled in alignment with the Groups Employment Equity requirements.
