Electrical Project Engineer (Solar/Energy) 2024-05-14 - 2024-06-13 Permanent JHB000986 We are looking for a Electrical Project Engineer in the Solar/Energy sector, Midrand The Project Engineer will spearhead tender and project execution for the construction of power substations, overhead lines, and solar farms. The successful candidate will coordinate tasks and strive for project success in transmission and distribution. The role entails providing technical expertise on deployment, designing and constructing electrical systems in line with safety standards and project specifications, managing relationships with clients, stakeholders and vendors, and running the tender process. Responsibilities: 1. Planning and managing the construction of 1MW+ solar farms and power transmission and distribution projects. 2. Overseeing the installation of electrical equipment and systems. 3. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project alignment with established goals. 4. Managing engineering design with the appointed consultant. 5. Creating technical drawings for substations and lines using computer-aided design (AutoCAD). 6. Recommending engineering or manufacturing changes. 7. Providing technical expertise and guidance on power systems and design optimization. 8. Monitoring project progress and identifying potential risks. 9. Ensuring compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations. 10. Running the tender process with technical expertise and guidance. 11. Maintaining and updating detailed reports of electrical projects. Qualifications: 1. Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. 2. Possession of a master's degree or additional certifications in electrical power generation/transmission/distribution and renewable energy is a bonus. 3. 7 to 10 years experience in project management and engineering in the power transmission and distribution sector. 4. Experience in managing turnkey electrical transmission and distribution projects. 5. Proficiency in project management tools like MS Project and CAD software like AutoCAD. 6. Can manage a team of junior engineers. 7. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. 8. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and multitask. 9. Fluent in English. Knowledge of French is a bonus. 10. Excellent time management and computer skills.
