Dis-Chem Pharmacies has an opportunity available for an Application Development Manager to join the team at our head office in Midrand. The purpose of this job is to ensure that technical resources are effectively managed and directed towards meeting the strategic objectives and goals of the business. Evaluates existing applications, stays current with industry standards, and implements best practices. Ensures systematic planning and monitoring of application development initiatives, striving for timely, cost-effective, and high-quality results in line with applicable standards.Minimum Requirements…Essential:Matric or equivalent Senior CertificateB. Comm, B.Eng., BSC Eng, BSC Informatics or related degree.Minimum of 5 years of experience as an SAP ABAP and Fiori/SAPUI5 developerAdvantageous:SAP Certification5 – 8 years’ experience in a similar roleJob Specification…IT Application Delivery:Oversee the development and deployment of new applications and enhancements ensure alignment to business goals.Review existing applications for effectiveness, efficiency, and improvement strategies.Facilitate technical discussion to agree base solution architecture and implementation measures.Utilize Information Technology solutions to optimize cost management and enhance business profitability.Set and supervise target and budget objectives, maintaining a consistent cost control across functional areas.Manage design, delivery, and ongoing improvement of solutions to enhance automation and innovation levels.Establish coding standards and promote others to follow suit.Lead discussions on adopting new technologies and improving internal coding standards.Promote best practices and innovation through critical assessment and challenging of design assumptions.Implement all stages of IT development in compliance with legislation and audits.Conduct thorough analysis of existing software applications, identifying areas for improvement and optimization.Ensure efficient resolution of customer IT services within agreed timelines.Project Management:Take ownership of assigned tasks and projects, ensuring alignment with business expectations.Oversee multiple projects, identify risks and issues in advance and initiate appropriate corrective and preventive actions ensuring performance as per project goals.Develop and maintain project plans, application/systems documents, and standards.Implement IT projects aligned with strategic objectives, utilizing specific performance metrics for progress tracking.Implement business improvements based on thorough data analysis and benchmarking.Oversee IT projects to ensure timely implementation and effectiveness.Prepare business cases for project and technology updates.Stakeholder Partnerships:Ensure stakeholders understand and are trained in the effective use of delivered solutions.Cultivate and manage objective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including end-users, SME’s, project managers by providing input to business requirement.Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, contributing to business requirements.Foster a conducive environment for software development and mentoring.Report on project deliverables to keep stakeholders informed and ensure deadlines are met.Cultivate objective relationships with stakeholders, providing input to business requirements. Team Management:Provide technical guidance and ensure adherence to development standards.Mentor, assess and manage the team to continually improve processes and outcomes such as reviewing code and ensuring logical soundness.Promote a robust culture of accountability, innovation, and performance management across the team, whilst modelling the company values.Train and guide team members on projects or initiatives to ensure successful implementation best practices and strategies.Assist in setting objectives and tracking progress.Facilitate creation of accountable, full-service teams meeting stakeholder needs.Support peers through knowledge sharing, mentoring, and coaching.Plan and manage team performance, skills development, diversity, talent, and culture.General:Adhere to Dis-Chem Policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and Health and Safety regulations.Keep software contracts and Service Level Agreements up to date.CompetenciesEssential:Knowledge- Knowledge of the programming language and implement practical business solutions.
