OverviewHire Resolve’s client is looking for a dedicated and skilled Environmental Manager to join their team of professionals in Midrand, Gauteng.ResponsibilitiesLead the creation and maintenance of comprehensive and well-documented integrated mine closure plans for the mineDevelop and refine company-wide environmental policies and strategies to align with industry best practices and regulatory requirementsEnsure that environmental objectives and targets are clearly defined, measurable, achievable, and integrated into the operational standard operating proceduresDevelop and implement strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from mining operationsAssess climate-related risks and opportunities and integrate climate resilience measures into operationsOversee water resource management, including efficient usage and responsible discharge practicesImplement water conservation measures and engage with local communities on sustainable water practicesEstablish waste management protocols to minimize waste generation and promote recycling and reuseExplore opportunities for integrating circular economy principles into mining operationsDevelop and execute biodiversity conservation plans, including habitat restoration and protection initiativesEnsure compliance with environmental regulations related to biodiversityMonthly reporting of rehabilitation progress against targetsLead efforts to rehabilitate and restore mining areas to their natural stateCollaborate with local stakeholders to ensure the long-term ecological health of impacted areasStay updated on environmental laws and regulations relevant to the mining industryEnsure that mining operations are fully compliant with all applicable environmental standardsConduct risk managementInvolvement in Environmental Community ProjectsReport on Environmental performanceRequirementsBachelor’s, Post-Graduate or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or related field10+ years in conceptual/strategic environmental management within the mining industryStrong knowledge of environmental regulations and best practicesProject management and stakeholder engagement skillsProficiency in environmental impact assessment and sustainability reportingBenefitsSalary: R600K/yr – R1M/yr, negotiableTraining & DevelopmentFamily LeaveYou are also welcome to contact Esmari Marais on LinkedIn or call them on 021 551 8638.Please note that correspondence will only be conducted with shortlisted candidates for this position.
