Specific Accountabilities Implement and drive new distribution (logistics/courier) projects within the business. Customer Services: Interaction with customers to provide distribution solutions by focusing on value added services and new delivery methods. Identify areas of improvement within the business and by involving the necessary personnel with the relevant skills, proposing the required solutions. To provide instruction and guidance to other personnel within the business and the Client’s 3rd party courier providers. Conduct and lead feasibility studies on various internal and external distribution options. Presentation of key findings to the Distribution Centre Manager (DC Manager) and Operations Director. Ensure the business remains informed of the technologies and capabilities available in the market. Keep DC Manager and Operations Director informed of trends within the industry and business. Offer guidance and support to the DC Manager and Operations Director. There are four (4) key aspects of a Logistics Controller’s role: 1. Customer (the Sales Force or Consumer): Analyze external customer’s specific requirements for delivery services and include their requirements in company internal procedures and measures. Work closely with internal Departments and external customers in applying improvement plans. Collaborate closely with senior managers (the Client’s divisional or Regional Directors (RD’s)/Area Distributors (AD’s)) and their teams to create a culture of continuous improvement for delivery services. Close monitoring of the external customer’s (salesforce) KPIs and taking actions in co-ordination with operations and other teams to meet set targets. (service levels etc.) Review different delivery options and benefits. Reduce time to deliver and improve customer (salesforce) experience on deliveries. Assist in the review of handling/delivery fee options to the Client’s salesforce based on historic data and future market trends. 2. People: Facilitate flow of information internally and with 3rd party logistics providers. Liaising directly with 3rd party courier provider companies on problems. Manage the Warehouse Admin Clerk. Manage the Export Clerk. 3. Operations: Provide the operations leaders with timely, evidence-based analysis and reports to lead to improvements and operations efficiency relating to delivery services. Identify opportunities to make savings on courier rates by maintaining an awareness of the logistics trends and by building relationships with 3rd party courier providers. Initiate, own, and ensure successful completion of projects that deliver operations efficiencies, meet identified needs and address challenges facing operations monthly. Monitor 3rd party courier provider SLA’s. Liaise with DC Manager, customers, and couriers to solve delivery problems, provide information&resolve complaints appropriately. Identify internal system issues relating to delivery addresses and address with correct internal department to rectify. Ensure address database is maintained and accurate. This includes approving and loading new delivery points and Direct Delivery Option (DDO) points. Analyze delivery patterns to identify improvements in routings and amendments to delivery schedules as may be necessary from time to time to ensure customer needs continue to be satisfied. Review all 3rd party courier provider invoices received for accuracy and ensure all relevant invoices are loaded on NetSuite for approval. Provide various analysis on freight charges, fuel surcharges, number of delivery points, value of delivery points etc. Create, implement, and update courier dashboard and other management reports daily. Compile monthly SLA for 3rd party courier providers. Ensure all distributor (salesforce) delivery agreements are signed and maintained. Assist Customer Service Department (CSD) with change of release days for specific areas by updating and maintaining the release schedule. Manage the day-to-day operations of the couriers on site, ensure standards and targets are achieved, recorded, measured, and discussed with the relevant line manager. 4. Financial results: Manage the above three (3) aspects to positively affect the company’s operating profit results. Manage and track 3rd party courier providers spend. Supply summary reports of monthly spend by partner and/or delivery method. Part of this role requires the ability to question and ‘disrupt’ the organisation. This may require moving around the various aspects of the company, applying your knowledge gained to innovate, improve, and sustain the company’s delivery options to support business growth. Education&Experience Relevant tertiary qualification in a related discipline essential i.e. Supply Chain/Logistics Management Minimum of 5 years’ experience in courier industry Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Record of financial and statistical analysis ideal Key Accountabilities Critical reasoning skills Teamwork Attention to detail.
