Brief Description : An employment opportunity is available for a SHERQ Officer, reporting to the Nursing Services Manager . The successful candidate will be responsible for Safety, Health, Environment, Risk and Quality in the workplace. Critical Outputs Perform risk assessments and assist in improving quality of care. Training of health and safety and infection control representatives, patients and staff. Co-Ordination and maintenance of a safe, secure healthy working environment and assist in pre-employment assessments. Policy implementation and monitoring. Maintain positive relations with all stakeholders. Investigate and report all incidents and accidents. Ensure that all IOD’s are reported to COID / Workman’s Compensation. Ensure that pre and posttest counselling is provided to all staff. Ensure that all external contractors comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act as well as set Kiaat Private hospital policies. Co-ordinate SHE, Risk, Quality and Infection Control Committee meetings. Compile reports and meet set deadlines. Administer Hepatitis B vaccinations. Requirements Diploma in nursing / B Cur degree. Registered with the South African Nursing Council as an Registered Nurse. Minimum of Two (2) years’ experience as an Registered Nurse of which one (1) should be at a Private Hospital. Diploma / Certificate in Infection Control and Diploma in Occupational Health Nursing Science.Risk management certificate. Be able to work independently and in a team. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations. Computer literacy. Registration with SAIOSH (South African Institute of Occupational Health and Safety) will be advantageous.
