BACKGROUNDPeace Parks is a non-profit conservation organization that specializes in conservation at scale through the development of Transfrontier Conservation Areas and the long-term management of key protected areas in partnership with government conservation agencies and communities within these landscapes. We currently focus on the development of five priority transboundary landscapes measuring over 65 million hectares throughout southern Africa and the co-management of ten national parks and protected areas covering over 5.2 million hectares.JOB PURPOSEThe role will report to the Programme Manager and additionally provide support to the Regional Manager - South and each Park Head of Operations and Development – covering Peace Parks’ operations with the Great Limpopo and Lubombo Transfrontier Conservation Area with a primary focus on the Management and Development of Banhine, Limpopo, Maputo and Zinave National Parks and enabling Transfrontier landscape initiatives. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS AND RESPONSIBILITIESImplement special projects and initiatives according to the regional and park business plans.Take responsibility for management and reporting on selected grant and projects, generally those which are cross cutting or outside of core protected areas.Development of Regional and Park Operations Manuals and associated site audits and implement regular reviews and compliance audits thereof.Assist senior management in key administrative functions including: i) Collation and Preparation and Post meeting follow ups of Steering Committee meetings. ii) Collation and Preparation of Regional Monthly and selected Project Reports. iii) Preparation of Annual PPF Mozambique Impact report. iv) Management of Procurement processes and general procurement support (primarily outside of Mozambique) to identify suppliers, obtain quotations and secure import and delivery logistics. v)  Preparation of Service Level Agreements and Contracts.Ensure that synergies are achieved between the various supported conservation area and actively promote and facilitate standardisation across the TFCA including uniform and branding of parks and personnel; Co-ordination and facilitation of the process to develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures across the organisation. Facilitate and support the development of proposals for both short term projects as well as the long-term sustainable financing for each of the Parks.Other tasks as identified and needed in support of the administration and management of the Mozambique operations. REQUIREMENTS At least five years’ experience in an administrative or management role with operations and project management experience.Experience in a Conservation context will be advantageous but not essential, but candidates must show a passion and knowledge of the conservation sector.Preferably with a degree in the natural sciences, project management or business management fields. Good English language skills (written and verbal) while a working knowledge and/or ability to speak Portuguese will be highly advantageous.Financial management skills essential with a strong understanding of budget management may be beneficial.Excellent computer/technology skills – MS Office, social media, websiteSkills in negotiating, analytic skills, excellent interpersonal communications, project management, experience in procurement and management of consultants and contractors are all considered essential.An understanding and / or experience in the management, planning and development of conservation areas with specific understanding and / or experience in counter-poaching, community engagement and infrastructure programmes will be highly advantageous.Experience in management, liaison, monitoring and evaluation, compliance and reporting on large foreign donor programmes, as well as experience in working with Government structures and in Mozambique or a similar environment as well as in a Transfrontier landscape is highly advantageous.Experience working in multi-cultural environments.The position may be remotely based but with a willingness and ability to travel and work self-sufficiently across the Conservation management area landscape.Interested candidates are invited to submit a cover letter detailing their interest in and suitability for the position and a Curriculum Vitae, with full address, telephone number, email address and contact details of at least three contactable references.
