NEW EMPLOYMENT AVAILABLETitle: MECHANICAL TECHNICIANArea: Richards BayIndustry: EngineeringRef No.: TRG 2157Salary: Market related TCTC available/negotiableStart Date: As soon as possible An opportunity for an experienced MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN is required for permanent employment based in Richards Bay.The Mechanical Technician (with Welding Inspector qualification/exp) performs a support function in the Engineering team for new projects, equipment upgrades, and modernisation, technical services and major equipment repairs for Aluminium smelters.The Mechanical Technician (with Welding Inspector qualification/exp) is required to understand, analyse, modify existing and design new mechanical and related system, primarily on machines used in the aluminium smelter industry.Drafting, modelling and associated strength calculations form part of this role.This role will also support the manufacturing department with necessary bills of material, develop scopes of work and provide related guidance and support to the quality department.He/she will be in charge of the interface between the companys engineering department and the local engineering department.The Mechanical Technician (with Welding Inspector qualification/exp) will also provide engineering support to other departments.Support also extends to site visits at the clients sites and supplier sites.DUITES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Design in 2DModelling in 3DCreate and modify drawings as requiredReview of drawings and preparation of drawing packs to the workshop and/or manufacturing suppliersSetting and maintaining technical standardsMaintain engineering processes and procedures (i.e. welding, heat treatment etc)Site visits and equipment inspectionsTechnical assistance / audits at client siteScope of work input (client and suppliers)Prepare QCPs (Quality Control Plans) in conjunction with the QA/QCParticipate in NCR meetings on behalf of Engineering department as requiredProvide technical input for Requests for Quotation for Projects, Spare Parts and Repairable sLoading, modifying, analysing and revising of Bill of Materials (BOMs) and Inventory CodesExtracting information and technical data from SAP and other databasesProduction support (machining, fabrication etc)Comply with legal and company specific HSEQ requirementsConsider quality and safety in all work performedReport any quality non-conformance near misses or incidentsPROBLEM SOLVING:Analyse and find solutions to mechanical problems on equipmentProduce Quality workMeet milestones / deadlinesIdentify the mismatch between international and local available materials and processes for manufacturingSelect material, methods and processes required for fabrication and localisation of supply in South AfricaClarify drawing and related problems (fitment, interferences, missing information, international translation etc.)Work with AccuracyKEY RELATIONSHIPS:Cultivate healthy relationships with the management team, your line manager and engineering teamContribute to good company culture, team morale and a healthy work environmentEDUCTION, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Matric (Grade 12)Mechanical Engineering Qualification Welding Inspector qualification advantageous Computer literacy: Word, Excel, Microsoft Project and SAP would be advantageousAluminium smelter equipment experience will be advantageousKnowledge of Solios equipment advantageous3 5 years experience in a mechanical engineering positionMore than 2 years experience in a senior positionExperience with CAD software/Autodesk Inventor PACKAGE & REMUNERATIONSalary: Market related TCTC available/negotiableStart Date: As soon as possible #TheRecruitmentGuy#RichardsBay#Mechanical#Technician#SAP#MSProject#CAD#Autodesk#QCPs#BOM APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS We will ONLY consider applications from suitably experienced candidates that meet the requirements of this vacancy.
