Due to the departure of a valued team member, we have the exciting opportunity for a Sport Central Community Sport Advisor to join our team, based preferably in the Queenstown area. As ourSport Central Community Sport Advisor, you will coordinate and facilitate community support projects in the Central Otago region with an emphasis on the Queenstown Lakes District Council area. You will improve the capability of sport providers by providing sports consultancy services and you will maintain and develop initiatives and opportunities with sports to enable Sport Otago/Sport Central to maximise its potential as a leader in the sport and physical activity sector. Your responsibilities include: Collaborate with RSOs and clubs to enhance capability. Work with stakeholders to coordinate professional development opportunities for staff and volunteers, support events across the region, and promote physical activity and wellbeing initiatives. Manage regional community sport projects and drive facility development across the Otago region in accordance with strategy. Provide leadership and policy advice on sport and recreation issues. Advocate for initiatives consistent with objectives. Develop and maintain effective communication networks with stakeholders and liaise between councils and clubs for improved sport services. Contribute to data collection and analysis for measuring activities' impact. Upholding inclusivity, diversity, and equity. As the successful candidate, you will have: Relevant tertiary qualification or experience in sports management or related fields. Familiarity with Aotearoa's active recreation, education, sport, and play sectors. Knowledge of, and commitment to, the Treaty of Waitangi. Established sporting networks within the Otago Region and strong relationship-building skills. Critical thinking abilities, efficient task management, and experience in professional development programme design. Professionalism, effective communication, innovation, self-motivation, and adaptability. A valid driver's license and the ability to work flexible hours. We also have a tonne of benefits working with us, including: Flexi hours. Flexible working arrangements.
