Key Responsibilities Measuring and Cutting: Accurate Measuring: Taking precise measurements of the artwork and materials to ensure a perfect fit. Cutting Materials: Cutting frame mouldings, mats, and glass to size using specialized tools and equipment. Assembly and Construction: Frame Assembly: Assembling the frame by joining the cut pieces, securing corners, and ensuring structural integrity. Mounting Artwork: Mounting the artwork or item onto a backing board using archival-quality materials and techniques to avoid damage. Finishing: Glazing: Cutting and fitting glass or acrylic glazing to protect the artwork. Final Assembly: Combining the frame, mat, glazing, and backing into a finished piece, ensuring a clean and professional presentation. Restoration and Repair: Frame Restoration: Repairing and restoring old or damaged frames, which may involve refinishing wood, replacing broken glass, or fixing structural issues. Artwork Conservation: Occasionally, framers might handle basic conservation tasks to protect and preserve artwork. Quality Control: Inspection: Ensuring the final product meets high standards of quality, with no dust, blemishes, or alignment issues.
