About the job Group Financial Controller (Fintech)Our Client is a licensed and award winning fintech in the crypto/blockchain/payments space.Purpose of role:The Group Financial Controller will lead the Corporate Accounting and Financial Reporting teams (5 direct and indirect reports), driving the month end closing process, including consolidation on Netsuite, to ensure timely financial reporting. Reporting to the VP of Finance, this exciting and challenging position involves extensive collaboration with the Finance team and senior leaders in the business.Job Type: Full Time | RemoteLocation: Cape Town, South AfricaMandatory RequirementsFully professionally qualified CA/ACA/ACCA/ACMA7+ years relevant post qualified experience (Group Reporting, Controlling)3+ years experiencing managing teamsStrong Oracle Netsuite experience, including ConsolidationExperience working in Group or Regional Finance teamsPrevious experience in FinTech, ideally with exposure to Client Money, Stored Value Facilities or Custodial ServicesPerson Specifications:Excellent technical accounting skills, able to teach complex concepts to team membersExcellent Excel, financial reporting and reconciliation skills, analytical mindsetAbility to grasp and navigate complex business problems and apply accounting solutions to themHigh ownership and performance driven, able to prioritize, multitask and work under pressure in a deadline driven environmentAbility to summarize complex concepts clearly and concisely to senior internal and external stakeholdersSelf starter, confident to ask questions and challenge the status quoNatural leader, supporting team members with their tasks and development be the future senior finance managers of the organization.Strong attention to detailGet things done attitudeExcellent English communication and presentation skillsAgile and able to work in a rapidly evolving work environment and industryProactive, fast learner, upholding our clients core ValuesWell-rounded project and people management skills.Desirable Experience:Previous experience in cryptocurrencyPrevious startup/growth stage company experienceA financial educational background such as a BA Finance, BA Accounting, MBA or relevant degreeResponsibilities:Lead the Corporate Accounting and Financial Reporting teams 5 direct and indirect reportsLead the Month End closing process, ensuring all finance teams close accurately and on timeConsolidating monthly financial results for 40+ entities across 22 countriesManage the timely production of accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholdersEnsure financial reports, management reports, financial records and documentation are accurate, up to date and produced on time.Ensure the Corporate Accounting Team performs financial checks on AP invoices are performed so that GL codes, cost centres and amortisation treatments are correctly appliedPerform the final reviews of TBs by entity by month, analysing trends, identifying inconsistencies and explaining off-trend movements.Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy, identify discrepancies and ensure they are resolvedCollaborate with the finance teams to prepare for year-end audits, ensuring all necessary documentation and records are in order.Launch monthly Cost Centre Dashboards and ensure department specialists within the Corporate Accounting Team meet with Cost Centre owners monthly to present historical costs and management information, and find out about upcoming projects and costs.Final review of statutory standalone and consolidated Group financial statements under IFRS and other international accounting standards.Perform analysis and technical accounting research (IFRS and international accounting standards).Ensuring appropriate documentation of accounting treatment of complex and judgemental transactions, including analysis, relevant literature, and conclusion.Ensure compliance with regulatory and statutory accounting and reporting requirementsStep in to support team members on month-end procedures to ensure monthly closing happens on time.Continuous maintenance and improvement of templates and standard operating proceduresAny other tasks and projects assigned by the VP FinanceManagement:Managing team members, monitoring performance and consistently providing feedback.Responsible for coaching and developing junior members of staffWeekly 1:1 meetings with direct reports and formal quarterly performance reviewsFostering a culture of excellence, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement at all levels within the Finance team#J-18808-Ljbffr
