The company is also actively pursuing new opportunities which are emerging from the energy transition, including desalination projects powered by renewables, as well as green hydrogen and ammonia projects. The primary role of the Control Room Operator is to remotely support at the first-line level and control the company’s power generation facilities to optimise energy production and ensure safety.Remote support and operational control is done through the use of Distributed Control System (DCS), Computerised Maintenance and Management System (CMMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), systems. SCADA, CMMS, ERP and other systems are used to detect, analyse, respond and report on events that could negatively impact power plant energy production and operational safety and facilitate optimal asset performance.The role is shift-based, including weekends and public holidays.Key Responsibilities1. Perform remote first-line fault finding of renewable energy (solar PV and onshore wind) asset fleet under contract with GSAMS.Identify faults or underperformance of equipment and initiate corrective actions to resolve itGather information and report on plant-related eventsFirst level fault finding, using technical documentation and drawings, i.e. undertake investigations to find the root cause, apply corrective actions and provide feedbackUse of fault-finding techniques and specialised tools, software or techniques to identify underperformance and ensure that plant gets returned to standard levels of performanceAnalyse, interpret and report power quality events2. Safe remote operation of power plant equipment as set out in the relevant procedure.Operate HV, MV, LV and production equipment, including turbines and invertersOperate auxiliary equipment that supports the production equipmentSetpoint and facility command control, along with the regional control centre for the network operator3. Complete reports relating to compliance, plant and maintenance performance.Complete the required compliance reporting as assignedComplete power plant performance, key performance indicators (KPIs) or downtime reports timeously and accuratelyResponsible for using performance analysis techniques to support the identification of plant performance inefficienciesResponsible for data collection from the SCADA system and other database systemsPerform advanced data analysis on power plant performance, failure statistics and maintenance records to support critical decision-making processes4. Dispatch on-site operations and maintenance (O&M) team to attend to outages, faults and any warnings or events.Create and dispatch corrective maintenance work orders (WO)Partake in the development of the preventative maintenance plans and schedulesProvide planning and scheduling support to the teams on-site when delegated by the Senior Control Room Operator or Line Manager5.
