Job Summary The Contracts Manager oversees projects from the start through to completion. The Contracts Manager’s job entails tasks such as planning, budgeting, making key decisions, ensuring that projects fall within the proposed budget, and ensuring that all duties are executed and completed on time. The candidate will further oversee companies’ operations to realize profit, quality, safety, efficiency, and sustainability. Project Scope The Contracts Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operation and progress of the below projects from project initiation to project completion: Roads and Earthworks Water and Sewer Reticulation Reservoir and Concrete Works Bulk Water Pipelines Building Works Facilities Management Key Responsibility Areas: Core Functions Leading, managing, and developing technical staff to ensure smooth business operations. Provision of accurate and timely resources and assets to assist with the implementation of projects. Establishing and managing budget, controlling expenditures, and ensuring the efficient use of resources and assets. Analyzing complex resources management issues and initiatives that affect the organization, and preparing stakeholder reports, and correspondence submissions. Encourage and integrate innovation and cost-effective working methods and introduce new systems and procedures to improve efficiency. Approval of costs i.e., invoices, purchase orders, and final payments spreadsheet. Prepare and coordinate weekly activities including but not limited to, meetings, procurement, revenue&and cost monitoring, and site visits. Directing and overseeing all aspects of construction projects from start to finish, including scheduling and organizing workers’ tasks and materials. Ensuring that all projects are completed on time and within budget by managing daily operations such as equipment maintenance and labor scheduling. Work together with the SHEQ Manager in developing and enforcing safety standards, policies, and procedures for site activities. Ensure all required tests are timeously undertaken (Quality Assurance). Advise the Operations Director on Civils Related Contractual and Technical matters. Ensure correct commercial engagement of subcontractors (rates, contracts agreement). Complete and distribute the contract initiation/completion certificate for each project. Ensure weekly review of progress, and budget resources, and forward the planning to the Operations Director Chair and attend internal and external meetings and ensure the production of accurate records of any discussion and actions. Ensure timely management of both temporary and permanent designs to meet the requirements of each project. Education and Formal Training Matric. BSc/BTech in Civil Engineering. Project Management qualification will be an added advantage. Work Experience Minimum of 8+ years’ experience in the civil engineering and construction industry. Minimum of 8+ years’ experience in a commercial environment. Job-Related Requirements Must be registered as a Professional Construction Manager with the SACPCMP or Professional Civil Engineering Technician/Technologist/Engineer with ECSA, Contractual knowledge, GCC, NEC, or JBCC Vast knowledge of forms of contracts Extensive experience in safety regulations.
