These jobs were popular with other job seekersOur client, a company who specialises in perishable logistics, is looking for a Sea freight controller assistant. You will be joining a team, who will support and assist one another.Duties & ResponsibilitiesPrimary ResponsibilitiesCoordinate the movement of freight from farm, to end user. Listening to customer needs, contacting shipping lines with regards to their needs, compiling quotes based on the customer requirements, proceeding with arranging road freight from the various inland locations to the facility to be repacked into sea freight containers.Client etiquette – take requests from clients and always be willing to assist throughout the sea freight process.Provide clients with accurate cost estimates as and when required – including shipping line charges, company agency fee, various other goods and services charged.Forward orders to the relevant international offices and monitor accordingly.Supplier etiquette – be polite to shipping lines and maintain good relationships with them, as well as road freight facilities used to get the best.Forward above details to client and obtain authorisation to make shipment booking.Co-ordination on the processing of required port release papers.Take clear images - save images from WhatsApp onto laptop and save images per shipment on the company common drive. Send pre-alert images.Book road carriers when required for inland transport to the specific port.Book sea freights online with various shipping departments.Follow up and confirm that vessel details are unchanged.Prepare and compare an invoice to a quote to bill correctly.Stuff a container per commodity correctly – repack from trucking trailers into shipping containers. This will require knowledge of how many boxes per pallet, what temperature the commodity should be kept at, etc. Following documentation to process customs clearance: commercial invoice, packing list, bill of Lading, house Bill of Lading, arrival notification, signed clearing instruction, any certificates required e.g. certificate of origin, state veterinary; permit etc.Sending status reports to clients for tracking.Ensure all customer requirements are processed prior to customs clearance e.g. redirections/ road haul requests etc.Prepare documentation and submit to the Customs Department to process customs entry.Follow up on customs releases, stops, detains, and arrange examinations where necessary.Apply for release from the shipping lines and agents.Arrange Delivery Release Order or Container Terminal Order where applicable.Obtain shipping line or agents' charges.Close liaison with clients to ensure that they are continually updated on the progress of clearances and delivery of their cargo as well as prompt resolution of queries.Close liaison and correspondence with Vessel's AgentsScan POD’s and file accordingly and stamped and signed where needed.Fill in shipping instructions correctly.Desired Experience & QualificationExperienceExcellent Administrations skills.Excellent on excel. Multitasker.
