Responsibilities of the Job:Reporting to the General Manager, the overall responsibility of the job incumbent will be to ensure that the Quality Assurance Department meets set standards through proactive planning, leading, organizing and controlling the department. The incumbent is responsible for implementing and managing the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS Management program to the set standards and legal requirementsMain job functions: Responsible for: A) Quality Assurance, AdminManage the ISO 9001 Quality Assurance System to meet the company''s International Standards. Aim to minimize the amount of findings and reduce the risk of losing the ISO listing.Implement and manage the ISO 14001 System. Ensure the necessary awareness is created amongst employees and management. All relevant training is to be co-ordinated and executed.Ensure all external and internal Audits are planned according to an approved schedule and that the audits are carried out in the most efficient way possible.Manage the SHE Management Program to the set standards / legal requirements.Manage the current Non-Conformance System and find ways to minimize Non-Conformances. Create awareness of Non-Conformances amongst employees and Management so as to reduce Non-Conformances.Manage the hourly control sheets generated by the QC Inspectors. Ensure the documents are completed correctly and that immediate action is taken when deviation from standards are noted. Negative trends need to be monitored and actioned. B) Quality Assurance, TechnicalEnsure visible quality control on the factory floor. Generate and display graphs with trends to create awareness amongst employees.Conduct on the job training to reduce defects and scrap.Conduct improvement studies to improve product quality.Audit all relevant processes to pre-determine possible waste generation or quality defects.Engineering drawings are to be kept up to date and stored in a safe place. Ensure the correct revision of drawing is submitted to the QC Inspectors for their inspections.The frequency of measuring product from production must comply with the set standards. Equipment used for the QC of product must be kept in good working order. Ensure continuous investigation into new technology to measure quality of product.Ensure Quality Control Department personnel are continuously trained on updated methods to improve QC on products. C) GeneralGenerate statistical reports required by Management to trend Quality Control in the Manufacturing process.Monitor the amount of waste (scrap) generated in the Manufacturing process by generating a Trend Analysis Report.Conduct regular meetings with suppliers and customers to ensure quality standards.Plan and administer all paperwork relating to the quality assurance manuals and its implementation.Arrange and administer all Quality Assurance, OHSAS and SHE meetings to the set frequency.Ensure that decisions made in SHERQ meetings are carried out in order to comply with the Quality Assurance Manual.Maintain orderly files and documentation of all quality assurance problems, complaints, audits, etc.EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Degree in Mechanical Engineering.Formal qualification in Quality, Environment, Health and Safety and Risk Management. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED 3 to 5 years in a similar function or field. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM FUNCTIONS Knowledge of BSI ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS, SHE etc. Knowledge of plant and factory. Knowledge of production and equipment. Knowledge of good housekeeping and waste management. Knowledge of oral and written communication. Knowledge of maintenance systems. Knowledge of investigative techniques and principles. Knowledge of managing techniques and principles.
