In this position, it is crucial to have the capacity to analyse both quantitative and qualitative data, comprehend both big-picture and specific thinking, and strike a balance between complexity and simplicity. The role involves compiling annual separate and consolidated financial statements in compliance with the relevant legislation and IFRS. The also has a strong focus on the technical tax and IFRS opinions with respect to the investment transactions.Key Performance AreasProvide input into the investment team strategyFor tax, accounting, and reporting purposes, investment contracts are analysed and investment transactions are interpreted.Analyse the financial statements of investee firms every quarter and provide a performance report.Keeping all data, transaction records, and investment paperwork up to date and maintained.Create monthly reports on investment performance for the investment team's review.Make sure the interest schedules and dividend amounts are shared with the investment team.Involvement in new investments (Fixed assts and global assets): assist the investment department in assessing new asset models to make sure sufficient audit factors are factored into valuation (lower the chance of an impairment soon after acquisition).Budgeting and reportingAuditConsolidated budget preparation in the annual financial statement formatAnalysis of valuation models in preparation for the audit and ensuring sufficient audit evidence is available ahead of the auditManage the external auditing procedures, correspond with auditors and create the necessary supporting documents for audits.Analysing the audit reports and putting measures in place to minimize audit differencesFinancial Reporting and analysisMonthly, quarterly, and annual portfolio performance reports are prepared for CFO, CEO, committees, boards, and shareholders.Ensuring that an outside party reviews and validates the annual performance reporting once a year.Liquidity reporting: consistent updates to the most recent dividend projections (consensus among analysts and, for infrastructure assets, the most recent models and management accounts).Oversee the treasury function and provide cash flow projections that show the present and short- to medium term financial situation, expenditures, and available money.Utilising your technical accounting knowledge of IFRS, assist SPVs in completing their monthly closure processes.The gathering of transactional data to make the creation of monthly management accounts and financial statements easier.Help with presentation and audit committee preparation.Create the covenant reporting each month.IFRS compliance and preparation of the group's consolidated annual financial statements.Main charge of creating the yearly financial statements and schedules that go with the financial statementsGovernance and sustainability:Risk reporting and implementing internal controls in line with risk management framework to ensure compliance with relevant legislationProactively identify potential risks / issues with regard to quality of financial data and information, as well as complianceReview accounting policies and IFRS changesDeveloping and managing financial systems/policies and ensure they are implementedEnsure implementation of audit recommendationsAssist with corporate reporting requirements as per King IV i.e. integrated, narrative, corporate responsibility reporting.Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and ActRisk and controls management:Treasury managementPrepare cashflow forecasts and provide analysis and oversight on the fund performance of asset managers where cash is heldEnsuring compliance with the approved policy on cash managementTax planning and compliance:Compliance with SARS requirements and tax planningExamining and filing provisional and yearly tax returns.Evaluation and filing of monthly VAT returns.Finalisation of the tax calculations.Correspondence with SARS, including addressing their queries.Preparation of tax opinions for financial transactionsIT governance:Maintenance, digitization and automationDrive digitization and automation within the Finance departmentAssist in the maintenance of finance IT systemsTeam DynamicsManage junior employees and oversight of CA trainees, including day-to-day communication and motivation and performance managementDesired Experience & QualificationExperience progression required   The candidate in this position is expected to have not less than 3 years’ experience in the financial services industry The candidate in this position will have to assist the Group Manager Finance to carry out the financial management responsibilities by analysing the impact of various business decisions on the short and long-term strategy of the business.Qualifications RequiredNewly qualified Chartered Accountant (SA)These jobs were popular with other job seekers#J-18808-Ljbffr
